"Artist Spotlight"

This past week Makin' It Magazine caught up with independent Hip Hop artist Sean Freeman to discuss his upcoming projects and career goals. Enjoy the interview below and be sure to reach out to his management team TNT Entertainment to connect for possible shows, features and promotional opportunities.

Where are you from?
I was born and Raised in Springfield, MA but grew up spending a lot of time in between there and Columbus, OH. I also lived in Greenwood, SC for about a year as a teenager. I finally moved to Georgia about six years ago. Ever since then I've been focused on building my brand.

What do you do?
In addition to being a songwriter, I consider myself an Authentic Hip Hop Artist with a unique voice and unorthadox flow. I feel like i have a sound that can't be bound by a region, it can literally rock coast to coast.

What do you feel sets you a part form other hip hop artists?
I can go in any direction. My bars are quotable; my hooks are Contagious and I make great substantive music that doesn't bore people. Not to mention I have a vocuabulary and gift for word play that would make scholars jeolous. Outside of that, I work really hard not to be REPETATIVE. I'm not one of those artists that jump around I stay on subject and paint the picture for you. I'm creative; I know what I want to bring to the game and I know what my purpose is.

When did you Realize this is what you wanted to do?
I first realized that in the ninth grade. Back then I was distracted by fast money but after all my buddies started getting locked up, they would write me telling me I had way too much talent to be sitting round in the the hood waiting for another one of my friends to get killed or locked up. It really opened my eyes. Ever since then, my purpose has been telling that story and giving the perspective of dudes like me, who want to do good and be successful, but don’t know how to do it legally. From there, my love for music took over and I decided it was this or nothing. That was about five years ago. Three years after that I linked up with Rain, The CEO of TNT Entertainment. We had known each other for some time, so when he approached me about it I was down. Ourside of our personal relationship, TNT has a strong Team. Tauheed "Rain" Ferguson, Radee "Talib" Ferguson, Corey "Core" Gardner, and Jay "Hushmoney Jay" Freeman are all hustlers. They just know how to flip that switch and put there efforts into making me POP.

What project(s) are you currently working on?
Right now, we’re pushing my single "John Lennon" while I’ve been working on a series of mixtapes. The first one set to drop is The Legend of Left Lane Shorty. I'm also in the studio working on my debut album at the same time. The mixtape should be out at the end of March with the album following in late May.

What are your goals for this project?
I’m just trying to get as much recognition as possible and create a serious buzz that has people feeling my music and rolling with this movement. I'm going to these people get a glimpse at Sean Freeman. I’m the next wave and after its all said and done I going to be the best artist ever; nothing less.

What are your top 5 accomplishments so far?
Being feature on MakinItMag.com for one, lol. But aside from that, having 3 videos out on my YouTube channel; being featured on Foxy 105 (Columbus, GA); getting a good team behind me (S/O to TNT Entertainment) and having over 100 songs ready to go, 99% being singles.

What are your goals for the next 18 months?
I’m just focused on creating a buzz, getting radio rotation, doing some paid shows and while we’re at getting a major deal and making the Billboard Top 100. Yeah... that about wraps it up.

Sean "Mars" Freeman is an Atlanta based hip hop artist originally from Springfield, Massachusetts By way of Columbus Ohio. He is known for his unorthodox ability to articulate and convert simple messages into a complex and vivid painting through a laid back smooth unheard of delivery. The influence of traditional East Coast Hip-Hop is evident as you listen to Sean but his Midwest accent and Southern Hooks give him something that most MC's don't have naturally, which is, quite simply, a unique sound. Sean moved to Atlanta from Columbus, Ohio over 5 years ago and has been grinding in the streets ever since. Performing at every possible place he could and even Ghost writing for a couple of established Indy Labels in the city trying to find his way in the game. As an established MC Sean learned how to write without using a pen and or paper its actually all in his head. You give him a beat and about 5-10 minutes and you will have a hot 16 give him a few hours you will have a hit song. Some rappers are great at writing a verse or a hook or both but still dont have what it takes to put together a good song. Sean understands that his songs should be visual so he takes this approach to songwriting and makes not only hot versus but hot songs! Sean recently dropped his 2nd mix-tape "The Legend of Left Lane Shorty Vol.1" on datpiff.com. The single on the mixtape is called "Shit to Do" The video for "Shit to Do" will be shot August the 12th here in the "A". Sean already has three videos on youtube with over 100,000 total page views to his credit. The videos's are "Put on a Show", "John Lennon" (Beatle status), and "Zoom". Sean was featured on the cover of makin it magazine a few months ago. The mix-tape can be downloaded free at http://www.datpiff.com/Sean-Freeman-The-Legend-Of-Left-Lane-Shorty-mixtape.338230.html.
