Joey Vee was born on August 24, 1972, in Warren, Michigan. He is the son of the late Tom Vee, a painter & construction worker. When Joey was a young child, his mother would catch him singing on a daily basis. His mom would always tease him saying that he was going to be a singer someday. During his childhood, he was drawn to music. He took clarinet classes, and reenacted dance & music specials such as “The Donny & Marie Show”. He grew up in the age of MTV and became a daily fan. After his graduation from high school in the early '90s, Joey enrolled in college obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1998, Joey began taking his music career serious by going to any and all open mic nights at local bars. He would also persuade bands into allowing him to sit in and sing a song or two wherever the bands played. In 2000, Joey Vee joined a band which played some Country songs but mostly pop songs and classic rock songs. The band performed all around Michigan. In 2001, while still with the band, Joey Vee found himself performing in Whitby, Ontario while traveling for work. Joey turned out to be a regular performer at various bars and venues in Canada while he was traveling for business. He began taking his guitar whenever he left town in order to gain experience in performing. In, 2006 Joey left the band in order to care for his father who was sick with Cancer. Joey now began writing original songs which helped him cope with the stress. Joey started attending the local Michigan NSAI meetings on a regular basis trying to learn the craft of song writing. In 2006, Joey started booking shows as a solo artist. He put together a Country band and performed at various bars and festivals around town. In 2007, Joey Vee took some time off from performing due to the passing of his father. After the passing of his father Joey found himself helping folks who were also struggling with cancer by giving advice. Joey Vee now performs at many repeat venues around Michigan on monthly basis.
