I recently had the chance to attend a local rock and metal music festival in my hometown of Hutchinson, Kansas (yes, Kansas knows how to rock). The festival cleverly named “Wake the Dead Fest” held it’s second all day concert October 10th and featured 13 bands performing on 2 different stages.
I wasn’t able to stay for the entire concert, but one band whose set I really enjoyed was The Breakpoint Method who are from Salina, Kansas. I’m not completely sure what genre to describe them as, but they’re music sounds mostly metal-like, with maybe some screamo.
The band has four members, lead singer Barrett Jones on guitar, Jimmy Lands as lead guitarist and some vocals, Eric Reid on bass and vocals, and Shawn Hay on the drums. Although the band is quite new, they’ve shared the stage with the likes of Aiden, Madina Lake, Thursday, Pierce the Veil, Four Year Strong, and In This Moment.
This past year The Breakpoint Method won the chance to play the St. Louis date of the Taste of Chaos tour.
Currently, the band is headed to the studio to record their debut album.
I highly recommend that you check out their music. - Jody Heavener

Bio
Originating in a town with little to no music scene, The Breakpoint Method has played a huge role in reviving Central Kansas’ excitement for live music. As the number of played shows grew, so did their fan-base. Faced with the famous “you’ll never make it in Kansas” line, The Breakpoint Method has proven themselves worthy of national attention and have achieved many goals deemed unreachable.
The band formed in 2008 by a group of friends (Barrett Jones, Jimmy Lands, Eric Reid, and Shawn Hay) who all shared the same drive and dedication. Two short months after the band formed, they released a demo to the public that gained them quick and authoritative popularity in their area. The demo tracks even won them spots on the 2009 Taste of Chaos and Vans Warped Tours, both in St. Louis, MO. After playing to crowds of that magnitude, they realized it was time to buckle down and make the band a full time commitment.
Having shared the stage with national acts such as Four Year Strong, Spineshank, Seasons After, Thursday, Pierce the Veil, In this Moment, Adema, and countless others, they quickly found that they could hold their own with the same bands that inspired them at a young age. The Breakpoint Method’s live performance continuously dropped jaws; citizens of Kansas had not seen that type of performance from local talent in a long time.
With tenacious dedication from their fans, The Breakpoint Method knew they needed to deliver their most solid performance on their album, “Empty Promises.” After much anticipation, the album was released January 2011 and has received an overwhelming response from fans.
Currently, The Breakpoint Method is independently touring the United States.
