The Wanted embraces early country music, blues, bluegrass, and rockabilly in a style that is at once distinctive and recognizable. Combining harmony singing, original material and a fresh take on older classics, The Wanted creates a sound that is transformational – old time gospel harmonies meets vintage rock ‘n roll.
The band features lead female vocals of Natalie Rogers with back up from Jeff Rogers, Richard Henderson, Rico Stern and Dave Lang. The band combines traditional instrumentation of guitar, upright bass, mandolin and percussion with unique elements such as the Cajon, washboard, harmonica and acoustic lap steel guitar. Combining their distinctive voices in intricate harmonies, The Wanted creates a sound that is transformational – the Carter Family meets Chuck Berry in an unplugged vintage rock ‘n roll jam session! The band is equally at home playing in an unplugged festival setting or in clubs with a full kit.
The Wanted regularly performs in clubs, fairs and festivals in Southern Ontario and in the Toronto area including their CD release at Hugh's Room, and performances at Winterfolk XII and the Eaglewood Folk Festival. Recently, the band has been featured on local cable programming "Toronto's Talent" on Rogers Cable. Catch their regular performances at the Gladstone Hotel country saturdays.
Their new self-titled CD has received airplay on roots country radio including CBC Radio 1, CIUT’s Acoustic Workshop and other Canadian roots radio programs. AltCountryForum.nl calls the new CD is: “A fine work full of contagious, hip swaying, raucous music.”
