Like a slap of fresh pavement to the face, Krystaleen embodies all the chaos, enormity, and uniqueness that is New York City. They mimic the melting pot fervor of a metropolitan iron giant both in sonic qualities as well as the sum of their parts.
Founded by bass player Ben Rose and guitarist Omar Zerrei, two Queens metalheads who played in various bands together throughout high school, the band took upon true form after serendipitous events brought Eitan Gavish, Jaime Carangui, and Hugo Fuego into the fold in 2009.
In the Fall of 2010, Krystaleen proved their worthiness by conquering 45 other bands and placing first in one of New York’s largest band competitions, Club Loaded’s Unsigned Band Festival.
With a sound that embraces everything from 80s thrash metal to 90s grunge, and from American bred jazz to universal pop; their music balances the technical virtuosity of blazing solos and off tempo rhythms, with the controlled finesse of catchy hooks and anthem like vocals.
Members of the band are as diverse as its collective sound, Dominican-American Hugo Fuego sings with a soul fueled intensity, Moroccan born Omar Zerrei shreds lead guitar into a mystic trance, Israeli-American Eitan Gavish grinds guitar with a backbeat rhythm, Ecuadorian born Jaime Carangui pounds the drums with a tribal vengeance, and Irish-American Ben Rose brings bass playing to the forefront with complex melody.
There is no question about it. Krystaleen will take the world by storm. And it could only have happened in one place, within the concrete jungles of New York City.
