"Citizen Bare, Carnival Album Review"

"While the bulk of the band’s material falls in the alt-country rubric, Citizen Bare do dabble outside the genre’s twangy constraints. Traces of jam, soul and straight-up rock can be heard throughout. That deference to myriad stylistic influences is largely a strength, and suggests a healthy sonic curiosity and willingness to take risks." - Seven Days - Dan Bolles

Bio

Citizen Bare is in their Vermont home studio working on the follow up
effort to the 2011 EP, Carnival. The band is collaborating with former
Phish engineer, Pete Carini, to craft a sound that highlights their
Americana and Blues sensibilities. The songs illustrate Citizen Bares
evolving sound with four-part harmonies, organ sounds through a rotating
Leslie speaker, melodic guitar solos, and a revamped rhythm section.
Lyrically, the songs explore introspective themes of love, family, and
change along with fallout from the floods brought on by Hurricane Irene
that ravaged large swaths of their Vermont landscape. The band will
release the first three tracks of the album tentatively called Flood in
the summer of 2013 and will be doing a string of shows in support of the
tracks.

Citizen Bare is a five-piece Americana Rock band out of the Northern
Green Mountains in Jericho, Vermont. Their sound is influenced by a wide
variety of genres from folk to hip hop, soul to progressive jam music.
Their original bluesy, folk rock sounds are woven together by guitar
driven riffs, raw and authentic lyrics, and dynamic harmonies. Through
their music they have been building a presence in the Burlington area
since 2007 and gaining momentum towards their musical goals every time
they take the stage. The band is comprised of Andrew James (acoustic
guitar and vocals), John Gratton (lead guitar and vocals), Jesse Cowan
(bass and vocals), Elizabeth Patterson (keyboard and vocals) and Jake
Blodgett (Drums). Each member brings a plethora of musical performance
and creation experience that has proven to be invaluable to Citizen
Bare. Citizen Bare has performed at multiple venues and events in the
greater Burlington area, including The Monkey House, University of
Vermont, Radio Bean, South End Art Hop, Nectars, and various charity
events. Citizen Bare is a blend of music and principle that promotes
free thinking and positive relationship with the world around you.
Their motto highlights an expression of social justice and the human
experience. Live Free, Die Naked
