A singer, songwriter, pianist, producer, and vocal arranger, Kim Erin is a recording artist with unparalleled style and hit commercial appeal. An emerging Canadian artist with more than just talent, Kim’s credentials include top honors at Canada’s Royal Conservatory and The Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, songs in feature movies, a four month tour in Asia, a spotlight on the VH1 series "Road To Fame", an album nomination, vocal and songwriting awards, Billboard recognition and much more. Erin taps into a legacy of great rock and pop - and even a little country/blues - crystallizing her signature style.

Kim has been diligently crafting her songwriting skills for over 15 years and has been performing since the age of five. Her writing style is tender yet brazen; with “lyrics that are provocative, thoughtful and exciting.” A contemporary and sensitive songwriter, her song "Home" was the only independent artist’s work placed alongside cuts from legends like Jann Arden, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and Boyz II Men on Hallmark’s "A Mother’s Heart" CD, distributed by Universal Music. Another original song was featured in the HBO film "Zebra Lounge," starring Stephen Baldwin, and Billboard bestowed an Honourable Mention within the top 500 for 2 songs from her debut album. Former Sony executive Dale Kawashima also awarded her "BEST SONG OF THE MONTH" and “TOP VOCALIST OF THE MONTH” through his prestigious organization, SongwriterUniverse/SingerUniverse.

  Kim Erin covers a lot of territory with her new album, Fly Away. Not only does this artist explore a variety of styles, from pop to blues to rock, she also writes from different points of view about a wide range of subjects. Indeed, it’s refreshing to hear an artist that has more on her mind than love found, love lost and relationship problems. This accomplished songstress actually writes meaningful songs that are provocative, thoughtful and exciting. And, the fact that her voice ranges from a seductive whisper to diva-like heights, gets her message across loud and clear.
  
  Possessing the sweetness of Judy Collins, the savvy of Rickie Lee Jones and the vulnerability of Fiona Apple, Kim Erin probes her own psyche as well. But even then, it doesn’t feel confessional - it feels human, as if she’s speaking to anyone searching for some peace of mind. “Twisting in a Circle,” a heavy rock number, expresses a unique sense of reflection: “How many times in my life must I do it wrong – How many moments am I gonna waste holding on...”
  
  From such introspective tunes to the hopeful plea found in “Take It All Away,” “You could take it all away - The emptiness that aches - You could make it all okay…” Erin exposes deep emotions, poignantly and intensely.
  
  Other tunes such as “Fall On Me,” “Illuminate Me” and “Does’t Lose Her Faith,” are more observational, but no less moving. This is not an artist prone to shallow insights – instead, she wades right into the pain, joy and wonder of life, feeling every texture. Erin also exposes a touching vulnerability that is candid enough to admit that we (she) can make poor choices, as in “One More Bite of The Apple” - a song that is more than a little unsettling in its opening refrain, “Please go easy on me – I’m on my knees…”
  
  This is the sort of songwriting that makes you think and want to go back for more, over and over again. The music compliments these themes in a variety of ways, by presenting a different musical style for each mood. Much like the soundtracks of our lives, associations and thoughts have their own soundscapes. Kim Erin obviously recognizes the differences and is moved by them.
  
  With any other artist, this much versatility could be problematic, but in Erin’s capable hands, it’s impressive. She never loses sight of who she is or what she stands for. In fact, the consistency of her vision and inspirational insights make this album the kind of record listeners will want to hear every day.

  Kim Erin is a talented singer and writer based in Los Angeles, who is coming into her own as an artist and performer. She teamed up with producer/writer/musician Michael Whittaker to write "Twisting In A Circle" which has won her the SongwriterUniverse "Best Song Of The Month" Contest for September.
  
  "Twisting In A Circle" is a dynamic up tempo rock tune, which has a bluesy edge. It has an unique title and descriptive lyric, about surviving and conquering all the twists and turns life can bring. In addition, the recording of "Twisting In A Circle" is well produced, providing an excellent showcase for Erin's soulful, aggressive vocals, and also spotlighting Whittaker's keyboard and arranging skills.
  
  Erin was born and raised in Toronto, where she learned to play piano and sing at an early age. She later majored in music theatre at the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a renowned arts school) and completed a university degree in Canada. Erin then moved to Los Angeles and entered the graduate program at the Musician’s Institute, where she began recording her songs. Erin has since had a couple of noteworthy song credits; writing and singing the song “Home” (for the Hallmark CD “A Mother’s Heart”) and “Believe” (for the HBO film Zebra Lounge)
  
  It was during a trip back to Toronto that Erin came up with the song title "Twisting In A Circle."
  This song was born out of a conversation I had with my brother Darren at a family Christmas reunion,” she explained. “We’re very close, and we talked about our lives, and how we’ve always been there for each other. I ended up writing the lyrics to ‘Twisting In A Circle’ with my brother in mind.
  
  Erin subsequently presented a rough version of this song to Whittaker, whom she began collaborating with in Los Angeles. She said, “Michael help improve and streamline the song by rewriting the verse chords, and he also created a great arrangement for the song.”
  
  Currently, Erin is completing her first, full length CD, which is being produced by Whittaker (a three song demo CD is available now). This CD could make an auspicious debut for this emerging artist. “Michael and I are very excited about the response to ‘Twisting In A Circle’ and we feel strongly about the other songs we are recording. I’m looking forward to finishing the full length CD [and releasing it] soon.
