Artist Information
Biography
"Possessing the sweetness of Judy Collins, the savvy of Rickie Lee Jones and the vulnerability of Fiona Apple…this is the sort of songwriting that makes you think and want to go back for more, over & over again." Music Connection
A singer, songwriter, pianist, producer, and vocal arranger, Kim Erin is a recording artist with unparalleled style and hit commercial appeal. An emerging Canadian artist with more than just talent, Kim’s credentials include top honors at Canada’s Royal Conservatory and The Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, songs in feature movies, a four month tour in Asia, a spotlight on the VH1 series "Road To Fame", an album nomination, vocal and songwriting awards, Billboard recognition and much more. Erin taps into a legacy of great rock and pop - and even a little country/blues - crystallizing her signature style.
Kim has been diligently crafting her songwriting skills for over 15 years and has been performing since the age of five. Her writing style is tender yet brazen; with “lyrics that are provocative, thoughtful and exciting.” A contemporary and sensitive songwriter, her song "Home" was the only independent artist’s work placed alongside cuts from legends like Jann Arden, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and Boyz II Men on Hallmark’s "A Mother’s Heart" CD, distributed by Universal Music. Another original song was featured in the HBO film "Zebra Lounge," starring Stephen Baldwin, and Billboard bestowed an Honourable Mention within the top 500 for 2 songs from her debut album. Former Sony executive Dale Kawashima also awarded her "BEST SONG OF THE MONTH" and “TOP VOCALIST OF THE MONTH” through his prestigious organization, SongwriterUniverse/SingerUniverse.
“...an auspicious debut for this emerging artist...Erin is a talented singer and writer who is coming into her own as an artist and performer.” Dale Kawashima
Erin’s debut album TWISTING IN A CIRCLE is a very personal and honest collection of songs, beautifully showcasing her versatility, vocal range and unique style. The album received nomination at the 15th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards for “Independent Triple A Album of the Year” and earned her recognition as one of Music Connection’s 14th Annual “Hot 100 Unsigned Artists.” It has garnered accolades from industry professionals worldwide, and is receiving radio airplay globally.
"Kim digs into her melodies, and lyrics, with passionate abandon. Her engaging smile lights up her beauty as she guides you on her musical journey." Maxi Anderson
Kim's live show scintillates with emotion. She is a vibrant performer, who takes charge of the stage with style and confidence, and holds her audience spellbound. Her show is exceptionally dynamic and her voice “ranges from a seductive whisper, to diva like heights.” Backed by a seven piece band, Erin plays with some of the best musicians in the industry. She is equally powerful when using a two or three piece band for her acoustic act or when she accompanies herself on the keyboard at a solo show. Whether she is powering through a rock anthem or caressing a ballad, Kim’s world-class stage presence is captivating.
Kim Erin is a strong Indie presence whose dedication and attention to detail has allowed her to share her music through hundreds of live performances and studio sessions on three continents. She continues to build her following playing the hottest venues in Toronto, Los Angeles and beyond, and continues to push the envelope both in the studio and on stage. Her music is fresh and original, yet remains organic; something she never wants to lose sight of in her craft. Kim cares passionately about her music and holds nothing back.
