Biography

Fueled by the release of their sophomore EP Put ‘em Up, Voodoo Method is charging ahead and into the summer of 2012. With highlights in their rearview like a 2011 Best Rock nomination from the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards (their 2nd in as many years) and a performance at the 2011 Red Sky Music Festival, Voodoo Method is anxious to get Put ‘em Up out to the masses and keep the momentum going.

And if the new EP is the fuel, then the legendary Voodoo Method live show is undeniably the vehicle. Their high-energy Rock and Soul show literally moves audiences around the Midwest, getting them on their feet and out in front to dance, sing, and party. Their funk-based rhythm section and true, two-guitar attack pair with Peedi's soulful voice and James Brown bag of stage tricks to consistently deliver unforgettable performances.

Spending their first 3 years writing, honing their sound, and playing smaller venues around Omaha and Lincoln, Voodoo Method began 2010 as relative unknowns. In March, the band made enough noise to get the call to open for Clown from Slipknot’s other band, Dirty Little Rabbits. Impressed with Voodoo Method’s tight, high-energy live show, Clown and the band invited Voodoo Method to play several dates around the Midwest throughout the summer and fall.

Leveraging the new exposure, Voodoo Method continued booking higher profile shows on their own into the summer, and was even invited to play the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards Summer Showcase. 60+ bands took part in the 2-day festival, and audiences voted for their favorite act. When the dust settled and the votes were counted, the winner was Voodoo Method. With the win came another invitation to play - this time, it was The 2010 MAHA Music Festival. Voodoo Method delivered once again earning praise from fans and music critics alike. The band was ultimately nominated by the OEA committee and music fans for Best Rock in 2010.

  This years seventh annual catwalk extravaganza, GlamVIP, is themed “Voodoo” and, appropriately, the ...This years seventh annual catwalk extravaganza, GlamVIP, is themed “Voodoo” and, appropriately, the musical accompaniment will be brought to you by Omaha’s very own Voodoo Method. The five-piece rock and soul outfit will take center stage as the models strut their stuff to Voodoo’s musical swoon. Their high energy, bowtie sportin’ frontman, Pierre Minor, will grab the spotlight with his powerful vocals supported by his band’s funky riffs and a sporadic demeanor that will leave you wondering if his body has been possessed by the demon soul of the original father of jive, James Brown. After Voodoo’s swagger-laced performance the after party begins with the beats of DJ Mista Soull with NFL celebrities Carlos Polk, Correll Buckhalter, Niles Paul, Zack Bowman and many more. All proceeds benefit D.R.E.A.M. (Developing Relationships through Education and Mentoring), a non-profit organization that reaches out to the underserved and less privileged children and families in our communities.

  I've never seen Voodoo Method before, but I was impressed. I don't know how much they fit with the r...I've never seen Voodoo Method before, but I was impressed. I don't know how much they fit with the rest of the bands, but it was good stuff. Their style is kind of rock/r&b/blues and the band's singer has a great voice.
  
  The lead singer was one of the most energetic guys I've ever seen especially considering he was playing to about 30 or 40 gathered in front of the stage. A few hundred more were seated near the stage(s), but who knows how much they were paying attention.
  
  Kudos goes to Voodoo Method's bassist, who was wearing a kilt. Brave choice.

The band is Voodoo Method, a tight rock band with a soulful and animated frontman that won over both musicians and fans last weekend at the Omaha Entertainment & Arts Awards Summer Showcase.
  Voodoo Method has been playing around town for a couple of years now, but it took a few higher profile gigs to get a lot of people talking about them. And they were the band that people were talking about last Friday night. Their high-energy set early in the evening got people into the Waiting Room and then on their feet and up in front of the stage having fun with the band. Music fans are hungry for fun rock-and-roll, and Voodoo Method fit that bill. This is not a novelty band, though. They just put on a show and had some fun with it. The band plays very well and vocalist Dale Brink pulls out some strong and soulful vocals. They seem to know where the balance is with being serious musicians and entertaining a crowd. If you want to see Voodoo Method for yourself, and are heading to the MAHA Festival, get there early, as they open up the day at 12:15 p.m. The rest of the lineup includes Landing On The Moon, Betsy Wells, Mynabirds, Satchel Grande, It’s True, Ben Kweller, Old 97’s, Superchunk, The Faint, and Spoon.

Their energetic, funky rock had me dancing. However, the highlight of the show was Pierre Minor’s improvisations and stage presence. His sometimes spastic and frenzied antics pumped up the already excited crowd.

They were the only act I had not listened to or seen prior to the show, but there could not have been a more apt, energetic opener. The Method earned their noon:30 slot by winning the Omaha Entertainment Awards. Playing a hybrid punk/funk with a true two guitar attack, lead singer Pierre Minor has gospel worthy pipes, a James Brown bag of stage tricks, and a unique look that I’m itching to parse but not quite ready to prod…yet.
