Charlottetown’s Arrows in the Air prove that a blend of hook-laden pop rock and 80s hair metal are the key elements to a memorable concert experience. Comprised of singer/guitarist Bruce Alex White, brothers Craig and Brady MacDonald on bass and drums, and newly acquired free-agent, Brett Oliver on lead guitar, this high-energy rock quartet sets out to bring the party to life. The band has been garnering attention through two sold out shows at the 2012, Toronto Indie Week, an appearance on CTV’s “The Beat”, performances at NXNE and Canadian Music Week, as well as performances at the 2011 and 2012 East Coast Music Awards – the largest music awards festival in the Atlantic region.
In early 2010, Arrows in the Air drew their bows and road tested a self-engineered, self-produced EP entitled “Shadows on the Skyline” playing over 100 shows. Not only was the album nominated for the 2010 Music PEI Rock Album of the Year, but the song, “She’s an Avalanche” spent 8 weeks on the East Coast Countdown peaking at #2. A professional music video was shot in Toronto for their nationally distributed single, “Love and Morals,” which charted on the Canadian Rock/Alternative charts.
Arrows follow up album, “The Dust Settles,” released in August, 2012, showcased a more mature side to the band that earned them another Music PEI Rock Album of the Year nomination and an invite to the 2013, Indie Week Ireland. The band self-produced the album and released videos for “Waste My Heart,” “Long Way To Go,” and “Young Lovers.” In September 2012, they set out on a fall/winter tour that saw them play over 50 shows from Atlantic to Central Canada.
In just over three years, they have played in the company of Finger 11, Haywire, Slowcoaster, The Stanfields and Gloryhound. Arrows in the Air are currently working on their third album slated for a fall 2013 release. Catch the boys on their next tour or enjoy the videos on YouTube.
