Biography
Noah Hoehn is a fierce performer. He has earned national acclaim for his harmonica playing as a two-time winner of the McKnight Fellowship for performing musicians. Now it is his solo looping show that is truly unequaled as a winner of this prestigious award for a third time. His singular vision to unite the sounds of new blues and marimba pop is accomplished with an incomparable live looping system. Saucy harmonica and cool marimba are layered upon a foundation of acoustic grooves freeing him to sing and play at the same time—a musical style unparalleled the world over.
Noah has boldly combined acoustic instruments from the blues and classical percussion with the technologies of live looping, MIDI programming and automated mixing into a distinct and cohesive sound. While performing in what he calls “The Mothership” he clicks, slides and taps the controls on his personally designed looping system while playing and singing. His show inspires the imagination as he pushes the limit of musical performance multitasking.
Noah was finishing his degree as a classically trained percussionist by day as he was cutting his harmonica chops in backwater barrooms across the Midwest by night. His impassioned harmonica performances and sincere dedication to his craft gained him national acclaim. Noah’s energetic and distinctive playing has been heard in concert halls, festivals and on national radio programs.
