International Songwriting Competition winning hip hop group Indelible’s debut album Our Present Future is a must-have for those who love infectious beats and provocative, smooth rhyme-flow. The Vancouver area alternative hip hop duo, made up of brothers J Thorn (vocals, keys, programming, production) and Illucid (vocals, production), have years of experience contributing to other various collaborations and projects. Emerging from the obscurity of local underground shows and years of refining their sound, they have gained a new level of focus and are building a lasting fan base.
Now suitably presenting themselves to the world as Indelible, they have had tracks reach top 10 charts on both commercial and college radio. Their positive, upbeat brand of music has made a lasting impression amongst their peers and garnered them recognition as winners or finalists in several songwriting competitions. The release of Our Present Future, which features guest appearances by Moka Only, Blaming Taylor, Lil Precious, and Jahranimo, was a turning point in Indelible’s career resulting in over 4,500 album sales so far, numerous accolades, and handfuls of Canadian tours. They’ve rocked crowds opening for Swollen Members, Classified, Choclair, Moka Only, Snak The Ripper, Sweatshop Union, Kyprios, Zion I, Josh Martinez, Evil Ebenezer, and many more. They have been awarded grant funding from FACTOR (the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent On Recordings) to help them create awareness for their music, most notably a juried sound recording grant for their upcoming album Long Run Home, which will be released this June (2013).
Indelible is real, powerful, and confident, with no gimmicks. With their alternative twist the music speaks to people in a way you don’t often find in rap and hip hop. Our Present Future connected with many people and left fans wanting more - and with more purpose than ever, the upcoming album Long Run Home will prove worth the wait.

Does the song stand out conceptually? Give a new twist on a universal theme?
fun. Love the slow intro that kicks into a faster groove. I'm taking this as a developed artist sound. You can pitch it to someone else but it's ready to go as is imo. Catchy, fun, lives in it's own world.
Does the song structure lend itself to the best presentation of the song?
Love the chord on high. Unexpected to hear the minor there. Not only is everything in the right place it's good that great arc from section to section. Appealing.
Is the melody strong, memorable, likable? appropriate & consistent with the theme?
Nicely done. The chorus doesn't rise much in pitch but the breathing space and catchy vibe make it totally memorable. It doesn't feel pushed or like it's trying to be anything it's not. Confident.
Are the lyrics witty, humerous, poignant? (depending on intent)
I usually don't love songs about writing songs because it's too self referential. But you're taking me into your wonderful world. Doing it for love rather than material gain is appealing.
Is there any awkward emphasis on certain words / notes?
Does the song seem to flow nicely from phrase to phrase?
You're doing it right. You'd be surprised how many ppl use Walk-ING instead of WALK-ing. Nice marriage of words and melody.
Overall Impact: 98
Really loving this tune. The verses do what verses are supposed to do and the chorus makes me want to sing along. Besides loving the song, the production and performance are wonderful. Get yourself in tv/film placements and on the charts. Wishing you success.

Th...Vancouver brothers J Thorn and Illucid lay down a mountain of music on its latest 16-track album. The duo wastes nary a beat getting into the music too. The opener "Our Present Future" is a tense and slightly claustraphobic slow burner that flows right into the smooth R&B bumper "One Night" with its play on the Eagles' "One of These Nights" in its chorus. Later on "Watchin'" they flip around an old Suzanne Vega loop to great affect on a nightclub ready track. The disc moves from strength to strength too with some guest turns from Moka Only, Blaming Taylor, Jahranimo and Lil' Precious. They say they wanted to make an album you'd leave on the machine at a party and they've got it. Grade: B+

After hearing just a few tracks from their debut album, titled Our Present Future, I was sure glad I did. This duo consists of brothers JT420 (J Thorn) and Illucid, formerly of the Vancouver area hip hop group Reverse Priorities. The two have been working together for many years now but it seems like they finally found the sound they were looking for. Their exceptionally smooth and upbeat style kept me listening intently to this album.

Indelible's album "Our Present Future" has passion, beats you love, and lyrics that had real meaning...Indelible's album "Our Present Future" has passion, beats you love, and lyrics that had real meaning unlike many so called "hip hop" artists. The first song (single) "Gets Me High" sets the stage for their sound, lyrics are positive with a great message which is the meaning of hip hop. Next we have "Down That Road", a little darker but staying true to their well groomed and tight style with showing some true hip hop style. Indelible also fuses some rock riffs with their sound creating the song "Fast Lane" yet keeping their own unique sound. The whole album has variety and diversity in music but keeps their uniform landscape. The Indelible sound keeps you listening, throw in a few cameos by Moka Only, Blaming Taylor, and a few more and you have a great album. Though I caught a few samples in the mix that could be done without since they have talent! It's still true hip hop that is a must have for everyone!
