What makes good music good? The Rockettops have been asking ourselves this question since day one; the answer, of course, is infinite. For us, it revolves around a desire to combine our love of creating strong melodies, tight instrumentation, socially conscious and uplifting lyrics, with a dash of fun.
With the recent release of our debut EP Blast Off, we reached our first major milestone. Everything we’d done thus far had been leading us towards achieving this goal. From finding the right photographer, designer, and producer to help us define our brand, to many late nights refining our sound and talents, it’s been a challenging but rewarding process. As an independent band, we have literally spent countless hours in this pursuit. Our hope is that this is evident in everything you hear and see from The Rockettops. The songs on Blast Off pull their identities from several genres to create a balance of our personal styles, influences, and collective band sound into a unique whole. As a group we draw from common influences such as Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, Muse and Coldplay. Using these as a springboard to create our own style of passionate rock indie-pop, we’ve been humbled by being compared to artists like Coldplay, The Fray, James Morrison, Muse, and Ben Folds.
As we continue to refine the mash up that is our differing musical experiences into cohesive tunes, the sound that is The Rockettops will continue to evolve. The successes we’ve had both in our local community and on the road fuels the fire that drives us, and we can’t explain how excited we are to work towards being on the road full time. We hope you have enjoyed what you've heard so far, and are as excited as we are about the music we will deliver in the future.
