Biography
Derek Holley is a songwriter and also a producer who creates his own unique form of dance music. His “virtual band” Dress Code has an eclectic style of dance music project combining electro, house, and break beats with rock, funk, pop, and hip-hop influences. The new album "Out Of Control" is being released on Derek’s own Dress Code Records label and will be distributed by LGN Entertainment/INgrooves Fontana. The music is published through Veal-Steen Music.
Dress Code's music has been featured on MTV, VH1, and other TV networks, in the indie feature film, "Limbo", and on Red Night Records "Electronic Surge" and Hot Sauce Records "Groovetonics Vol. 1" CD compilations. The new album "Out Of Control" is the follow-up to Derek Holley’s 2012 release, "Turn It On" where his single "Alright Tonight", received worldwide airplay, and went to number one on the kingsofspins.com website charts (A dance music radio promotions company). The song peaked at #57 on the Digital Radio Tracker National Airplay Top 200 Chart.
Derek Holley grew up in Dayton, OH with an interest in funk, rock, and dance music. He chose the name Dress Code as an irony. Dress Code is a rule about style and appearance. Derek wanted to do the opposite of that in a musical sense, with his unique blend of composition that mixes different styles and influences.
