Biography

IAN MOORE & THE LOSSY COILS NEW CD "EL SONIDO NUEVO" SLATED FOR RELEASE FEBRUARY 2011 on Spark & Shine Records

Ian Moore is, without a doubt, a quintessential artist. Weaving words through melody that flow as naturally as emotion, his last release TO BE LOVED (Justice 2007) makes one wonder whether this was exactly what Ian was born to do, and it’s safe to say, it is.

On To Be Loved, Moore fashions a panorama of musical moods and soundscapes ranging from spectral beauty to almost punk-ish rock energy, touching on and even mixing together many places in between.

Rising up through the rough and tumble Austin music scene, Moore quickly became known for his guitar techniques, but in the oversaturated guitar player market at that place and time, it was Ian’s strong talent for songwriting that set him apart. His self titled debut, released through major label Capricorn in ‘93 launched Moore into the public eye, garnering media acclaim and tours with the Rolling Stones and ZZ Top and saw him playing national television on renowned shows like The Today Show and David Letterman.

The span of genres that Moore has skimmed across, and been inspired by, throughout his career has helped to define who he is as an artist today. From sitting in with Bob Dylan, to recording a video clip for the song “Harlem” that was directed by Ice Cube and filmed in the South Central ghetto of Los Angeles, and tours with British icon Paul Weller, Ian has taken and held control of his music and his career. Moore has made the conscious decision to follow his bliss.

Touring both nationally and throughout Europe 100 days a year, Moore lives for his music, the road and his loyal fans.

Billboard raves, "He doesn't fly with angels; he dances with devils."

"To Be Loved", was in regular rotation on both XM and Sirius satellite radio nationwide. The singles "Civil Light" and "Literary Kind" tore it up at college and specialty radio across the country and "House Up On The Hill" was heard on Triple A reaching #9 on the Triple A charts.

Featured songs include the Beatlesque stylings of "House up on the Hill", the sparkly pop rock and driven percussion of title track, "To Be Loved" and Moore's signature guitar on "Innocent Maneuvers."

All Music Guide awarded To Be Loved 4 1/2 out of 5 stars and says, "Moore has created a brand of challenging yet highly melodic new-millennium pop-rock that establishes him as an audacious songwriter and player. He has struck that rare balance between astute complexity and utter pop appeal."

Moore is slated to release his eighth album with his band, The Lossy Coils, in August 2010 on Spark & Shine Records which may be his most guitar forward and infectious album to date.
