Biography
Dave Ross ( piano, organ, guitar) is currently performing and living in Chicago and began playing music at the age of 10. He had been exposed to blues at an early age with the help of his father, and travels to the East Coast. He would continue to play guitar exclusively throughout his college years in Burlington, Vermont. It was during his last years in college that David was exposed to the sound of Hammond organ player, Jimmy Smith. He would quickly make the transition from guitarist to keyboardist and focus solely on the Hammond organ. With no formal training on the piano or organ, he would quickly become proficient on this new instrument. After returning to Chicago after school, David hopped on stage one night at Chicago’s legendary Kingston Mines blues club and unknowingly performed along-side blues legend John Primer, a 30 year veteran of the Chicago blues. The very next day he found himself fully committed to performing in the Chicago blues scene exclusively with John Primer. (Muddy Waters’ last guitarist 1979-1981) David soon had the pleasure of performing onstage with Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph, Larry McCray, Shemekia Copland, The Yardbirds, Lurrie Bell, Matthew Skoler, Chico Banks, and band-mate Michael Morrison (former bass player for Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Luther Allison, Chuck Berry, and James Cotton. While playing keyboards for John Primer Blues Band, David has had the opportunity to extensively tour professionally throughout the world. This included the six-week Efes Pilsen Blues Festival Tour in Turkey as well as other concerts in Russia, Kazakstan, Serbia, Greece, Japan, France, and Romania. In addition to these bands, David had the opportunity to perform gospel on the Hammond B3 at the Inspired Body of Christ Baptist Church on Chicago's West Side, alongside Pastor, Dr. T.C. Raven. Some influences of Dave include Taj Mahal, Joe Cocker, Jimmy Mcgriff, Allman Brothers, Freddie King, Trey, God Street Wine, Robert Walters, and Muddy Waters. David continues to perform blues in Chicago and all over the world with the John Primer Blues Band. ( www.johnprimerblues.com ). .
