Biography

Musical curiosity has led to his own distinctive style in composition and arrangements - either through solo efforts or the following performance collaborations;

1) Dave Hart ~ Ambient to experimental solo instrumentalist. Featuring popular songs and world themes on classical and hybrid guitar. Add some on-the-fly looping and programmed accompaniment - blending jazz, rock, new age and electric blues.

2) 'Thrive' ~ A powerful dynamic duo with soulful vocals and mucho guitar interaction mixed with the talented vocal prowess of Meena! (aka Lady M.)

3) Hart & Soul ~ Improv Guitar Duo – performance features music from a wide fusion of genres. Styles from many decades including popular rock and instrumentals with vocal versatility. All songs structured from a unique perspective and their musical interaction - plus a little witty banter.

4) Hart & Geo ~ A unique guitar and violin ensemble blending light jazz, classical, romantic Latin and energetic flamenco mixed with dynamic rhythms. Passionate virtuosity with a stealthy sense of humour. With a variety of instrumental styles they create a significant crossover between the progressive, acoustic and classical music scenes.

Dave Hart continues to promote his music to a worldwide audience, knowledge sharing as well as developing future material with other intriguing artists.

As a versatile guitarist blending various styles of music - he performs along the West Coast creating endless medleys from ambient backgrounds with world themes – to a fusion of jazz, rock, blues and even country.
  His new age instrumental playing style is distinctive and inspiring to say the least ... which makes it accessible to all ages. He plays classical and hybrid electric guitars weaved with loop programs. His arrangements at times can get very lush or just bare and simple.
  
  Dave is also half of ‘Hart & Soul’ - the popular guitar duo act who play the restaurant /pub circuit and special events in the mid-Island region. Quite simply two fun guys with acoustic and electric guitars. Featuring the vocal versatility of Colin Stevenson mixed in with a few tech toys plus some witty banter.
  
  They headline at The Port Theatre Monday, October 4th as part of the “Studio Series”. Featuring a range of original and classic songs structured from a unique perspective and their dynamic musical interaction.
  Also a respected teacher with an array of learning programs conducted privately or via Tom Lee Music and Parks & Rec. • Dave Hart ~ Diversity CD [+ Show ]
  

  This is truly a difficult CD to classify. At times it is smooth jazz, other times it has a lot of sy...This is truly a difficult CD to classify. At times it is smooth jazz, other times it has a lot of synthesized sound, and then the guitar technique brings a rock element to it as well. Some tracks get experimental, and others are very typically New Age. Diversity is a good title for the compilation, as it has many different facets to it.
  
  Hart mixes both acoustic guitar and electric and adds a variety of other sounds, including a Roland guitar synthesizer. It makes for an interesting mix. Songs such as track 3, "Mexican Sonata," use the guitar so that it almost has a Pink Floyd-style feel to it.
  
  While many of the songs have a moody, New Age feel, track 8, "ATC Dance," goes off in another direction entirely and, as its name implies, sounds like dance music. I really liked that track, but it came out of nowhere and was very different from much of the other music on the CD. I'd actually like to hear a bit more of that mixed in -- it was terrific!
  
  Many debut albums have a mixture of styles in them, and Dave Hart has a big range in his. It will be interesting to see what he zeros in on as he moves forward with his music. In the meantime, those who enjoy New Age style music with an electronic edge can check out Diversity to hear an artist with a wide variety of songs. (And if you like guitar too, this is for you.)

Dave's groundwork on this cd is intelligent, but not over indulgent: there is a spirit within the music that creates brilliant soundscapes taking you a journey to many planes. Acoustic or electric, Dave's artistry shines through. An overall delight. Love the vocal track on 'Red'!
