Young Soulja The Realest (YSTR) is an American Pop / Hip Hop major recording artist that has a number of accomplishments. He was first recognized on a major level when he released his major release "Well Connected" mixed and hosted by DJ ILL WILL which featured an exclusive from R.Kelly. The release landed over 1 million free downloads off the internet by unique users. Next he featured in new major motion picture with "Ja Rule" entitled "I'm In Love WIth A Church Girl" set to be released Spring 2013 . YSTR kept the hype going when he went on tour with a bunch of household names such as Ray- J, Big Sean, Tyga , E-40, Paul Wall, Ruban Studdard and many more. YSTR's fanbase has spread not only in the U.S. but international. He has tracking sales from places like Australia, Japan , South Africa, and South America.   1. Where can you say your music background began? Your story. Young Soulja was born on Febru...1. Where can you say your music background began? Your story.
  
  Young Soulja was born on February 2nd 1989 in Los Angeles and raised in San Jose, Puerto Rican and black decent. He started his career out at the age of 12 years old introduced to Dj A.O.N who formerly used to Dj for the the American new jack swing/R&B group called Tony Tone Toni. Dj A.O.N seen the devotion, passion and skill Young Soulja had at such an early age and wanted to help him get more exposure in the music industry. DJ A.O.N featured Young Soulja on a series of his mixtapes to start building a buzz for the rapper. As much as Young Soulja loved music, he seen it more of a way to make some extra money in order to survive, getting on any mix tape possible dropping verses on any Dj’s project that gave him the opportunity to shine. His energy level and unique aggressively deep voice was admired by fans. But behind the scenes Young Soulja went through a lot of ‘surviving threw the struggle’ moments in his life. (Family deaths, family problems, gang affiliation, financial issues) and it seems any obstacle that has stumbled in his way, he has still seemed to overcome. Young Soulja has always been very dedicated and determined to becoming one of the best entertainers that has ever been discovered and is on his way to the top. As a child he was heavily influenced to express himself and what he has been through, he expressed himself first through drawing, then poems, which lead to writing songs. Then after writing songs he started recording them and that’s how it all started. The reason behind the name young Soulja is due to the war he fights everyday in the struggle of life. Furthermore, with a background he has you couldn’t deny that only a soldier could withstand all the situations he has been included in and continuing to fight in the battle of poverty. Young Soulja wanted to pursue this career not only as a gateway to showcase his talent but to help support his family with their money crisis. Also doing music was keeping Young Soulja out from trouble that was taking place on the streets that he would regularly be getting in to. Young Soulja has seen a lot of close friends get murdered and incarcerated. Thanks to the lord and music he is currently neither one.
  
  Young Soulja invented himself with his first independent solo album titled too hot to stop in 2001. He is best known for his unique rap style and his deep aggressive voice. However, in this album Young Soulja choose not to cuss at all. He was very unhappy with the results of his first album. Due to the fact he wasn’t really inexperienced. It was his first album and the lyrics he felt didn’t represent the points which he intended. The album was very low budget. However this album was an experiment that sold a grip of copies but Young Soulja was still unsatisfied with it. “When I look back on that album I realized that I had to come harder than that. I felt like I didn’t do my job, and I let my fans down.” so since then Young Soulja has been stepping it up by writing, writing and writing more songs because practice makes perfect.
  
  “I motivated myself to step it up lyrically, because if I ever want those dollar signs coming in my direction then I got to make music for people to feel and vibe to. Then successfully Young Soulja flipped the script and start doing his thing, writing hit songs like ‘Shake Dat Bootee’, are you really down, crazy for you and many other songs for other people to use. “The more I kept practicing the better I got at it, also I as I grew older I became wiser, which help expand my writing styles. Since people were feeling his lyrics, he knew he could be successful from the jump. He also wanted to try something new like making beats. Young Soulja just start messing around with the MPC and different beat programs and came up with some platinum banging tracks like the world savage, we hot boys remix, what I’m going through , strictly bout my cash, and many more. The beats came out to be successful due to the fact that the beats were getting sold like dough nuts next to a police station. From that day forward he knew that people were feeling his lyrics and his beats so basically it was proven that he could really do something in this industry. He has been staying busy coming up with new idea to expand and has been getting recognized more and more as the day pass. He has been featured on a lot of music DVD’s throughout the bay and currently has ring tones available which are for sell on his MySpace. He keeps it pushing and is currently working on his own clothing line coming soon.
  
  Young Soulja is one of those special artists that only come around every once in a blue moon. Known for his energetic flow and unpredictable lyrics and aggressive deep voice Soulja represents pure energy on a level that even he can’t fully explain. “How the crowd reacts to me is like they are hypnotized,” says Soulja. “From my voice to my style and my music, people just react a certain way.” Love him or hate him you cannot forget him. Without the backing of a major label Young Soulja has amassed a supportive fan base on the west coast rivaling any of his peers, signed or unsigned. It’s been a long time coming and he deserves the spotlight. Young Soulja has presented already two well known mixtapes “Tha Blocc Stars Vol 1 Stayin on the Grind Mixtape” and ” Choppahz N Techz Vol 1 – Thugz Re-United” which was pretty successful in sales however it has only been pushed throughout California. Then in 2009 Young Soulja connected with Sabotage to do a Street Album with Dj Ill Will entitled “Well Connected” on 9/11/09 (which is one of the biggest dj’s in Los Angeles right now, who works with Young Money, Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Ect) which the turnout of this street album was excellent and reached over 1,000,000 downloads. The album expanded throughout California and other states and started catching ears from Record Companies and Major Recording Artist. The street album has exclusive features from D-lo, Young Bari, and the one and only R. Kelly. It also includes shoutouts from Dj Ill Will, Ya Boy, and 40 Glocc (G-Unit/ Infamous Records). These mixtapes/albums were released independently through Young World Entertainment which is an independent Record label/ Promotion company formed by no one other than Young Soulja. The label has been active since 2001, when he signed his first act Tha Blocc Stars. Tha Blocc Stars consist of various artists like 9mille, JMurda, J-Dubb, Lil Tee, Young Money, Babie Que, Yung Rich, Patron (now known as Mikey Wattz), Jus Real, VI, E-Cheddah, and many more. Soon after The Bounty Killaz were discovered and signed with Young World Entertainment as well. Young Soulja’s Fan Base has grown tremendously over the years, with more than a million plays on MySpace. Its evident Young Soulja music is in demand and is getting heard. Young Soulja has already performed at a variety of nightclubs and big venues in the bay area, shoreline amphitheater, and Civic Auditorium opening for artist such as Soulja Boi, Tyga of Young Money, Andre Nickatina, Tha Jacka, Big Rich, Dem HoodStarz, Kafani, Young Bari, Go Dav, and more building a big buzz out of northern California. Young Soulja Puts on a great show and connects with audience by any means. Young Soulja hasn’t been only been pushing his own career but helping his fellow artist get fame as well. He has invested a lot of effort into music equipment and all the right tools to make his and his artist’s music get better and better
  
  2. Who are the artists whom you most admire and/or have been an inspiration to your career?
  
  2 pac- because of his amazing lyrics and poetic delivery, the way he always kept it real through out his whole career in his lyrics and related to the kid that was brought up having nothing. 2 pac never really rapped about materialistic things like a lot of rappers today rapping about cars, and chains example (jay-z). And I want my music to always be remembered far after im gone like they do 2pacs. , 50 cent out of the things he accomplished, that’s what I want to do with my career plus more. I admire how he has such an enterepreueral business mindset, having his own video games, doing movies, books, clothing line, condoms, having a deal with the water company, the 11 million records sold and I want to look as him as competition and my intentions is to do more than he has done and have success.

  A typical day of young soulja is getting up taking a shower, brush my teeth, and then head to the studio and skim through beats, and plot what can I do to make my next record better than the last. By Improving and tweeking the way I deliever my style, catchiness and wordplay a little bit each time. Then compare it to the number 1 song on the billboards. Because you have to think once you get your deal whats going to want to make people choose to by my album over a Plies album when they are siting side by side on the same shelf in the music store?
  
  6. What other music related skills do you possess?
  
  Music skills that young soulja possess is writing his own lyrics, has done voiceovers for some advertisements, Other than vocals, young soulja also has an ear with instruments producing hip hop/ r&b beats. Knows how to engineer and can mix and master songs in the studio. He also used to be a Dj but then soon after gave it up because he realized his deep passion for being on the mic instead of in the dj booth.
  
  
  
  7. What is it about the way you rap that makes it different than other artist of the same genre?
  
  What other artist you know that’s Playful , suave with a deep voice, has sex appeal, uses metaphors and smilies that expresses visual imagery, crosses boundaries resulting in creating new trends. Uses catchy lines that people love to quote , and all while staying on beat. The only answer that will pop up in google would be young soulja lol.

  There are no limits, my style is unpredictable the way im going to make another club banger.

  - Get all my NEW albums uploaded and sold on itunes
  
  - Continue Expanding my network with people of importance in the music industry
  
  - Getting a couple more photoshoots complete
  
  - And finishing the young world ent mixtape complete by summer 2010.

  - Getting signed to a major record label (preferred interscope records)
  
  - Doing a song with plies, and 50 cent
  
  - To perform at the HP Pavilion in san jose
  
  - Go on tour all around the united states
  
  - Perform on spring break in cancun on MTV/ BET
  
  - Have the number 1 single on the billboards
  
  - Have the number 1 album in the country
  
  - Performing in madden square garden
  
  - Having my single number one on 106 & Park countdown
  
  - To branch off my music career into making my own clothing, cereal, cologne, shoes, book, movies, video games, and help unsign artist better than what the industry is doing now.

  14. If you weren’t doing this… What do you see yourself doing?
  
  If I wasn’t a recording artist, I think I would have ended up pursuing my career in football. I was MVP and received a lot of awards all throughtout highschool and pop warner for my football talent as running back. I ran a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash in high school on the track and field team. I gave up sports because it was conflicting with my music career. So I think I would have ended up in the NFL with all the dedication and devotion I put towards that, that I now switched over to my music career.
