Biography

MAKING FACES is a modern rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida. They have worked hard to become an established regional band over the last few years, performing hundreds of shows ranging from festivals to bars to live music venues...and yes...even a wedding! They are known for their energetic catchy songs, fun loving positive vibes, crowd interaction and stage antics. They believe a song can be used to open someone’s mind and penetrate their heart.

MAKING FACES full length album, "Bright Roads Ahead" was released in February 2012, and their 2nd album is in the works. They made an impact on the Southeast during their Summer Tour are now constantly touring, and have become a staple on the Florida music scene.

MAKING FACES music infuses flavors of rock, reggae, funk, surf, hip-hop and more...overlapping genres while retaining a characteristic sound. A musical dynamic is felt, taking the listener on an emotional roller coaster ride. Groove and melody are abundant, along with interesting guitar and keyboard sounds. A beefy rhythm section adds to the overall dimension, making the listener want to get up and move!

Making Faces has played such notable venues such as: The South Florida Fair, Hard Rock Live, Light Up Ocala, The Delray Affair, NC Music Factory, Palm Springs 4th of July Festival, E.R.   Making Faces is a band concerned with "feeling good, having fun, and rocking your socks off" — at le...Making Faces is a band concerned with "feeling good, having fun, and rocking your socks off" — at least according to social networking sites. Although the wording is blasé, the description seems accurate. The West Palm Beach four-piece delivers clean, lively, reggae-tinted alt-rock sprinkled with covers of Sublime, Jimi Hendrix, and Jack Johnson. Their lyrics mine the territory you'd expect too. In "Cemetery," for example, John DeMatteo deems that "Love is the only way" to escape emotional and psychological problems, and the gist of that mantra reappears in "Evidence That I Need." But then there's "Media Puppet," in which they suddenly drop the feel-good vibes for a broadly worded attack on the media, closing with a warning: "So be wise and don't subscribe/The media's plot will corrupt your mind." For an unexpected foray into punk-rock lyricism, it's a decent little twist. The new incarnation of West Palm Beach rock act Noble Rocket, the Darklights, provides support.
