Biography
Lou DeAdder - Canadian fusion guitarist, songwriter and vocalist – started playing guitar at age 12 and was playing full time by age 18. Influences were bands such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Doors, Kinks and James Brown. The Toronto R&B Sound in the 60’s was also a major factor in Lou’s musical development. The later 60’s saw a shift to more of a rock and blues interest – Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Mike Bloomfield and Johnny Winter with Robben Ford as a current influence. Lou’s parents and relatives were from Nova Scotia and listened to old country music such as Hank Snow, Hank Williams SR and Johnny Cash. All of these influences contributed to Lou’s vast skill as a musician. He has played many styles of music to survive as a musician – rock, blues, R&B, country and even disco. The main focus now (after many years of touring Canada) is writing, recording and producing his original music. Lou has six CD’s to his credit since 2005 with CD 7 currently in the studio.
Brett Piekarz - Brett plays bass in the band but is also a phenomenal guitarist, drummer and keyboardist - all that and his main instrument is really trumpet - where do these guys come from? Brett has been playing for many, many years with bands such as Scott Street, The Edge, Dan Clancy, Wednesday, his own 9-piece band called Central Nervous System and a surf trio called the Robots. Brett is an original member of the Lou DeAdder Band and is also co-producer and studio engineer on all the band’s CD’s.
Leo Sullivan - Tenor Sax - Leo was born in Moncton, NB and moved to Hamilton, ON at an early age where he started playing Sax in high school and proceeded to Mohawk College to hone his skills in reading and improvisation. His first professional band was the Biggy Twiggy Band (1974) out of Calgary, AB where he first met Lou DeAdder. He was fresh out of high school at the ripe old age of 19. Leo proceeded through the years playing in most of the Toronto area clubs and recording studios as well as national TV shows. He is presently freelancing internationally and has recently become a proud grandfather. As well as being a Composer/Arranger/Soloist he has worked with the following acts throughout his career.....Manhattan Transfer - Grant Smith and the Power - Temptations - Rosemary Clooney - Don Rickles - Charro - Jim Nabors - Bob Newhart - The Osmond Brothers - Toni Tenille, and many, many more! Leo is an original member of the Lou DeAdder band.
Enrique Loyola - Drums/Percussion - Enrique has worked with many top artists, has toured internationally, and has appeared regularly on television. He has collaborated in studio sessions and jingles and has backed finalists in the famous Festival O.T.I. as well as heading his own band at one of Mexico City’s most renowned night spots. After arriving in Canada, Enrique expanded his musical base by including percussion instruments (those from Brazil, Cuba, the Middle-East and Africa). Appearing in jazz festivals, work in studio sessions, and backing up well-known artists. And as a freelance he continues to participate in many different music projects and bands(Funk, R&B, Jazz, Latin, Blues, etc. etc.).
Troy Dowding - Trumpet - Troy is fast becoming one of Ontario's most requested trumpet players. When Troy plays heads turn and people listen. From a young age he was drawn to the instrument. In his own words "I knew from the first day that I was going to be a professional trumpet player. Playing trumpet for some reason came naturally to me." The Hamilton native draws experience from drum and bugle corps, youth orchestra, jazz bands, playing on cruise ships as well as Las Vegas style shows. It's this experience that has helped Troy stand out when performing in venues around the Greater Toronto Area and the Hamilton Golden Horseshoe. In the recording studio, Troy combines skills developed during live performing with his natural creativity and masterful technique. Troy can be heard performing in various venues around the GTA as well as in the Hamilton
area. He has recently been playing with Robbie Lane and the Disciples, Sharon Musgrave, My Son The Hurricane, Rita Chiarelli, Danny Marks, Liberty Silver and the Killin' Time Band.
