Jabi Shriki was born in Rabat, Morocco. At the age of
4, he moved with his family to Toronto, Canada.
He spent much of his youth in Canada, before travelling
to the US. He began playing music at the age of 17,
while travelling across the US, prior to attending college in Texas
and medical school in California.
In addition to being a musician and artist,
Jabi is also author of The Suicide Chronicles,
a science fiction novel, based partially
on his real life experiences travelling across the US.
Currently, Jabi is studying medicine and is finishing his residency
at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
His musical influences are as diverse as his background.
Combining his Middle Eastern heritage
and international influences with Texan Folk, St. Louis blues, and
the unique musical environment of California, Jabi creates
music that is a powerful and compelling blend of
emotive, acoustic folk and alternative rock.
Live Music Magazine, has called his music
"haunting, ethereal, and beautiful... a cross between
Elliott Smith and The Cure."
California Pop Magazine has called the new CD
"The Best New Indie Album of the Year".
