Biography

CharleMagnet was formed in 2009 after Ronch and Allegra married and then met Charles Splady, a metal sculptor who has been making art in the bay area for decades. They were inspired by his grand character, and songs about him seemed to appear fully-formed out of the ether. Ronch began building his instruments and CharleMagnet was born.

Ronch hails from the midwest, where after receiving formal training in Sound Engineering, he toured 2005-7 as "The One Man Duel". Coming from a musical family, he is self-taught on guitar and vocals, and studied classical trombone.

Allegra astounded audiences with her lead vocal performance at the OmniCircus in San Francisco, 2008 & 2009. She comes from Las Vegas, where she received her musical training in voice and violin.

The pair work together on songs and lyrics that are meant to convey the difficulties of being human and understanding other humans. They are entirely self-produced. taking pride in the DIY approach to their artform, and are currently working toward a goal of completely self-produced instruments. Their music ranges from operatic psychedeic rock to lounge jazz, spanning genres and styles from one song to the next.
