After years of anticipation and speculation, StokeS is back! Get ready for the release of TRUTH BE TOLD.
TRUTH BE TOLD explores the intersection of popular music and human psychology with pulsating hooks, pure emotion and of course, truth. TRUTH BE TOLD takes the playful creativity that distinguished StokeS’ 2002 debut album HERE AND NOW and inflates it into an 30 minute explosive EP full of energy, soul and psychological complexity.
StokeS is a man with a mission: TRUTH BE TOLD advances StokeS’ vital yet unpredictable raison d'être. After growing tired of the same run of the mill music that the radio stations have been pumping out StokeS set out to leave you with a totally different taste in your mouth. By combining everything in the vast spectrum of music he likes, what has emerged is a hybrid conglomerate of hip hop, funk, punk, rock and even swing.
TRUTH BE TOLD showcases 8 songs that reveal StokeS’ vast and varied talents. From the hypnotic “Get Over,” to the undeniably infectious “Scream”, TRUTH BE TOLD appeals to listeners who appreciate great music. “Born 2 Survive,” featuring Australian sensation Jesse Bear on guitar, mixes dirty rock overtones with energetic hip hop and pays homage to alternative metal band System of a Down. “Get Over” juxtaposes introspective lyrics with militant backing vocals and an insistent hook. “Play That Song 4 Me” is an uplifting expression of gratitude to a crowd of StokeS fans. The crowd favorite “Fly Away” featuring the amazing vocals of Chris Rouse is an irrefutable instant hit. StokeS is currently adding the finishing touches on the project, working with an incredible line up of producers like NeuClear, Tone Mason, Doc McKinney, Master Wiggins, Slakah da Beatchild and more.
