Biography

For over eight years, Ottawa rockers HELLBROS have had one goal in mind; taking their music and their live show to the next level. With the release of their hard-hitting album, Goodtime Machine, the guys in HELLBROS have managed to do just that, successfully capturing the raw energy and attitude of their live performances in ten badass, catchy tunes. “We’re bringing back good, old-fashioned, straight-up rock with a modern, heavy edge,” says front man Peter Jurt. “It’s music to drink and shake your ass to.” The album was then voted rock/hardrock album of the year for 2011 in the Independent Music Awards.

This high-energy quartet also includes Jurt’s brother Christian (guitar) and long-time friends Curtis Delaney (bass) and Josh Roy (drums). For the past 2 years , HELLBROS have been touring across Canada in support of their debut album, increasing thier fan base and improving their live show. Recent highlights include performing at the 2012 Ottawa Bluesfest in support of Alice Cooper and Iron Madien, as well as supporting such touring acts as Andrew W.K., Cancer Bats, 88 Fingers Louie, Monster Truck, Diemonds, Dance Laury Dance, Barn Burner and Night Seeker.

  On their debut Goodtime Machine, as its title suggests, the intentions of Ottawa’s Hellbros couldn’t...On their debut Goodtime Machine, as its title suggests, the intentions of Ottawa’s Hellbros couldn’t be clearer: Have one hell of a good time and create all the while some of the most fist-pumping music the Capital has ever heard. Without ever sounding like a bad cover band, Hellbros cover all the rock ‘n’ roll bases, from the "hey-hey" chorus on the catchy Trespassing by Night, which brings to mind a coked-up Bon Jovi, to the inventive Dead City Rockers, which recalls Johnny Cash, ZZ Top and Andrew W.K., all in less than 180 seconds. Built on riffs bigger than Scotia Bank Place, most of this Machine is made of tight, vigilantly conceived, extremely well-produced, straight-up headbanger hymns. It’s in their most bizarre moments, though, as on the menacing Tombstone, that the obvious musicianship of the quartet shines the most.
