Biography
Based out of Nashville, TN, the Greg Burroughs Band defies the typical genre labels and suffocating descriptions often associated with the Music City. The group’s latest offering, “The Lucky Ones EP,” brings a fresh and exciting new sound over the airwaves by staying true to its country roots, yet pushing the boundaries of the “Nashville” sound. From the rocking title track to the more contemplative “Long Cold Summer,” the songs have been incredibly well received by fans, concertgoers, and industry professionals alike.
With frontman Greg Burroughs’ crafty and mature songwriting and longtime collaborator John Kingsley’s multi-instrumental versatility, the group is able to achieve a wide range of sonic and creative textures while maintaining an exciting and edgy country rock sound. Although forging a unique sound all their own, the band has drawn comparisons to Keith Urban, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, and Zac Brown Band.
Originally from Lebanon, Ohio, Burroughs met Kingsley, an Atlanta native, while they were students at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While finishing school , they cut their teeth playing the New England country bar scene, developing a strong fan base. Upon graduation, they moved to Nashville. Greg joined the band Cardinal Crossing and began to amass a catalog of songs co-written by Burroughs and some of Nashville’s finest songwriters including David Lee, Clay Mills, and Chris Parker. During this time, Kingsley worked as a touring sideman, playing guitar, pedal steel, and fiddle for artists such as Steve Richard and David Ball.
When the members of Cardinal Crossing went their separate ways, Burroughs reunited with his old classmate, Kingsley, to record “The Lucky Ones EP.” They have been hitting the road promoting the release ever since. Their incessant touring and blue-collar approach has resulted in a steadily increasing fan base.
