Biography

Corbu is a collective of Brooklyn musicians led by Jonathan Graves and Bryan Noll.

From the French blog Mets-toi á la page:

”A game between the acoustic and electronic. A trip between space and earth. Corbu leads us in the middle of everything. Where there are no benchmarks. Where all the world is lost. Where we do not know what is joy or pain (as we play in between).”

Corbu uses electronic and sampled textures alongside smokey 70’s rock guitars and soulful vocals to glide through a dream-like landscape that is at once abstract, cathartic and familiar.

Jonathan attributes some of the contrast in Corbu’s music to his childhood experiences of playing hockey in Pittsburgh and singing at Catholic weddings in the same afternoon. Both he and Bryan grew up in the woods around western and central Pennsylvania.

  Yesterday I stumbled on this great band out of Brooklyn via SoundCloud, as they were announced as a ...Yesterday I stumbled on this great band out of Brooklyn via SoundCloud, as they were announced as a featured artist over on the SC Facebook profile. Their bio lists them as making electronic music with shamanic soul vocals and guitars and claims that they migrated from the hills of Pennsylvania and Alabama, and now make music in Brooklyn.
  This demo titled ‘We Are Sound (Lens Flare demo)’, honestly sounds unlike a demo and rather a fully mastered song, so naturally we cannot wait for the final version to be released to geek out and marvel over the differences.

  “Corbu makes electronic music with guitars in Brooklyn, NY.” That is what their Soundcloud page say...“Corbu makes electronic music with guitars in Brooklyn, NY.” That is what their Soundcloud page says at least. While I’m not usually into the more sprawling of electronic music, the vibe is right on this track. The structure/melody moves around enough to keep the listeners engaged and the rhythm is quite intoxicating. Ultimately, I like the way it makes me feel. You can try and feel something from them as well on Saturday 2/26 at Glasslands w/Austra.
