Biography

Since starting to play the guitar at age 16, Matt Coffman has pursued his own distinct voice as a musician and songwriter.

After studying literature and philosophy at Stanford University, Matt harnessed his natural gift for language and his increasing command of the guitar to begin giving expression to the insights he received through his spiritual explorations. Meditation, yoga, fasting, study and the guitar all blended into a way of life that eventually led him to surrender completely to the guitar as his instrument and purpose.

Matt's music is all about the joy--harnessing the spirit of jubilance and celebration to shake off the traumas of the past and open up into the possibilities of the present and future.

Major influences include Bela Fleck, Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, Paco de Lucia, Zakir Hussain, Tony Rice, Caetano Veloso, Joao Gilberto and Radiohead.

Sites that will catch our attention with their quality content, engaging writing and interesting approach to everything guitar. Recently, we stumbled upon a great site, StringLove Guitar, that has made its way into our weekly reading schedule and so we thought we’d share it with you, or readers, as well as give you a listing of some of our favorite articles on the site.
