Biography
Songwriter Gerald Smith is originally from Statesboro GA and has resided in Nashville TN since 1985. A prolific writer, Smith penned such number one hits as "What Part of No" for Lorrie Morgan and "Every Second” for Colin Raye. He's also written songs for George Strait, George Jones, Johnny Rodriquez, Justin McBride and many others.
Gerald appeared as the "Georgia Quacker" on the nationally syndicated Hee Haw and Nashville Now shows in the 70's and 80's. Gerald has performed on stage with such greats as Barbara Mandrell, Jerry Reed, Ricky Van Shelton, Waylon Jennings, George Lindsey, Buck Trent, Roy Acuff, Percy Sledge, Grandpa Jones, Mike Snider, T. Graham Brown, Minnie Pearl, LuLu Roman, Roni Stoneman and many more.

Doug Flowers, (Hephzibah, GA) was on the road at age 14 with The Betty Fisher Show, performing at most of the major bluegrass festivals in the ‘70’s, as well as the Grand Ole Opry. While in college, Doug played in the bluegrass group Flatbed, and picked with friends Gerald Smith, Jim "Dawg" Iler and Tony Arata. Doug formed the band Avalanche, with Jim Iler, Chris Black, David Blackmon and Eddie Hoyle.
He is recognized as a premier mandolin player, performing in England as well as ‘Music City USA.’. Doug has performed on stage with artists such as Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, Earl Scruggs, Emory Gordy, Jr., Mac Wiseman, Chubby Wise, Ben Speer, Little Roy Lewis, Scott Vestal and many others. Doug most recently was a member of the Little Roy & Lizzy Show.
Now he’s focusing primarily on his project with Gerald Smith, Smith and Flowers, and writing with his friends in Nashville!

In addition to the songs recorded by country artists, Smith and Flowers have had songs they wrote recorded by bluegrass artists Little Roy Lewis, Lizzy Long, Valerie Smith and others.
Great songs with great musicians along with Gerald's trademark quacking is sure to entertain any audience.
Smith and Flowers do about 60% original and 40% cover, and feature super picking along with the great songs/vocals.
Doug & Gerald have been ‘picking’ together since their Ga. Southern college days and have been pursuing their own musical adventures ever since. Now they’re writing and touring together like the old days – with two of Gerald's songs hitting the top of the Christian country charts as well!

Gerald has teamed with leading gospel promotional company, Double E Promotions, debuting on the Christian Country charts with a song about his father called, "Shorty was a Big Man" which reached all the way to #2. Gerald’s second release ,"One of Us”, reached the top 25. His new Christian-Country C.D. is called "Born Again", which he co-wrote with Doug Flowers, his long time picking partner and friend from college days. Gerald is currently a staff writer in Nashville for Melody Roundup Music.
This new project of all originals of Smith & Flowers is entitled simply, "Originals", and features some great bluegrass/acoustic country music...
