Biography
Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala plays finnish folk music on two five-string fiddles with a strong understanding of both new and old fiddle traditions.
Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala share a passion for rooting up tunes from the archives and making them a part of their own musical language. They are both also known for their inventive use of their instrument which makes this fiddle duo very unique.
Emilia Lajunen's playing is distinctive, powerful and modern, although it is firmly based on Scandinavian archaic traditions and folk music. She plays five-string fiddle and nyckelharpa in bands like Suo, Spontaani Vire and Juuri & Juuri. Suvi Oskala on the other hand plays and sings in bands like Pelios (FIN-SWE) and Avertere as well as her many varying solo projects. Before forming their fiddle duo in 2010 Suvi and Emilia have worked together in projects like Silmu and Piia Kleemola & co.
The duo recorded their debut album during autumn 2011. The album will be released May 10th 2012
