Artist Information

Biography

Rustic Americana and folk tempered by roots rock arrangements allow intimate songs to simmer before they kick in and shake some dust off the floorboards. Songwriter Russ Christiansen was bottle fed on Springsteen songs and influenced by contemporaries such as Ryan Adams, Josh Ritter, and Jason Isbell . Christiansen proves you can reminisce and feel the comfort of your musical roots while finding detours that make the journey away from 'been there and done that'.
With a knack for finding some of Denvers most talented guitarists like John Waggoner and Todd Divel, or savvy multi instrumentals TD Davis and Bradley Weaver to augment spacious songs, his records and his live shows oscillate from shake your hand songwriting intimacy at their most personal to an anthemic drive too big not to be called rock n roll.

A late bloomer who started song writing in his mid thirties in 2005, his work has since been twice nominated for Best Roots Rock and Best Americana artists by Village Voice's Westword, made several media outlets' Best Albums of 2011, favorite artists , and movers and shakers lists -and most recently has found radio play slowly gaining traction across on AAA and american centric radio in late 2011/early 2012.

He has opened in local support for notable national touring acts such as Jason Isbell, Chuck Prophet, James McMurtry, C. Gibbs, and others. He now is based out of Fort Collins after several years calling Denver home. Keep your eyes and ears open and you just might find him roaming the backroads music haunts of the Rockies and Midwest with guitar in hand, band in tow, playing like he has something to prove.

Setlist

Originals: 40 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes
Rare-Occasionaly- fresh remakes/ covers of some artists we love: from Ryan Adams, Cowboy Junkies, Bruce Springsteen or similar.
Mix of slow/intimate to arena sized alt country...for diverse set.

Acoustic solo set by Russ Christiansen also available.

We are pros with extensive gig experience from large venues to "bring your own PA" dive bars. We can plug in and play or be there in the afternoon for extensive sound check. Regardless of conditons, we make it work- we have a show to put on!

For big events with the right stage setting, compensation structure or exposure= 5-6 members will perform.
For songwriter focused festivals and events, Russ is comfortable doing his repetoire in an intimate acoustic performance... Other settings call on us to be a lean 4-5 piece down to a 3 piece. A popular arrangement is Russ on acoustic, lap steel player, lead guitar player with drums/percussion depending on room.
We adjust to what is appropriate and to the event and promoters expectations. We work with you.
