Biography

After a busy summer of live shows across New York with newly-formed trio (with Nemo Rebic, guitar/vocals and Kay Rubacek bass/vocals), Australian born and New York-based singer/songwriter, Belle, is now preparing for a tour of Venezuela next March, while writing new material for the new album set for release in 2013.
Belle’s poignant lyrics are cleverly woven through a mix of rhythmic folk rock and electronica that have audiences smiling and clapping along with her and her band at every show. From the downtempo, Flamenco-flavored “Never Too Late” to the driving beat of “Magic”, Belle’s music bears a message of hope and inspiration.
Her deep, sweeping vocals and enchanting music are influenced by female vocalists such as Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan.

Artist History:
Born Kate Douglass in a small Australian town, she took the stage name Belle after moving to New York in 2009 to inspire other women to overcome their fears and inadequacies and find beauty within themselves. “As a child, I played different instruments, but what I really wanted was to sing. Yet every time I sang, tears would well up in my eyes and I couldn’t stop myself from crying,” says Belle.
“Singing in public has been the greatest fear of my life, yet now, ‘the show must go on!’” laughs Belle. “At every performance I’m like a kid, excited and scared all at the same time, yet so grateful to my fans and the audience for their support.”
Belle’s depth of musical delivery was witnessed on live TV in April on Manhattan’s Sissy Gamache Show on MNN. “It’s almost like you want to cry when you sing... It’s so beautiful,” said Sissy after Belle performed her song “Rain” about infidelity. “I love that because everybody’s so concerned about hiding
everything. But it’s not about hiding, it’s about showing too, I see that with you. It’s very, very touching.”

Debut Album Never Too Late:
After signing with Ingenious Records in 2009, Belle’s successful debut album, Never Too Late, was released in August 2011. It has been selected by iTunes as a “New & Noteworthy” Singer/Songwriter CD, played on AOL’s CD Listening Party and building a buzz on college radio (NOVA University, South Florida) and online radio, such as Last.fm, Napster, Spotify, Rdio, Jango, Women of Substance Radio, Indie Castle Radio, UNregular Radio and WITRR Radio Network across the US and Europe.
Never Too Late spans an adventure of over a decade, from her introspective poetry as a teen drug addict, inspiration while wrongfully detained in China for human rights activism, the struggle to achieve harmony in her marriage, to overcoming herself and gaining the confidence to share the gift of her music.
“There’s an inner purity and deeper meaning to this redemptive debut that elevates it beyond others in this mainstream genre,” wrote John Smithies for The Epoch Times about Never Too Late.
The songs “Be The Voice” and “What is Love?” show Belle’s strength to carry and speak for the troubles of the world, while “Rain”, “One Day He’ll See” and the popular dance track, “Don’t Ever” reach the depths of her introspection and self- consciousness.
Never Too Late was created in collaboration with producer Adrian Morales-Demori of Heiga Audio Visual; Kevin Dippold (Smashing Pumpkins/Spirits in the Sky); acclaimed drummer Sterling Campbell (David Bowie, Duran-Duran, B52’s); and multi-Grammy winner Filipe Tichauer (Christina Aguilera, Daddy Yankee). Belle has also received endorsement from Daisy Rock Guitars.
“Signing with Ingenious Records and working with such talented musicians during the production and now with my live band has been hugely inspiring and a humbling experience,” says Belle.

Belle Live And Touring:
Since the release of Never Too Late, Belle has formed a trio with guitarist/vocalist Nemanja (Nemo) Rebic and multi- instrumentalist Kay Rubacek (bass, vocals, mandolin, guitar) and added three-part vocal harmonies to add a distinct folk flavor to their live shows.
Belle was recently invited to play at Macy’s Shop for a Cause, the Music Industry Conference (Syracuse, NY) and other festivals, including the Black Potatoe Festival (New Jersey) and Greenfest (Connecticut). Belle recently opened for the UK’s Sophie Barker of the Grammy Award-nominated group Zero 7 and Groove Armada at the first stop of her US tour at NYC’s famous The Studio at Webster Hall.
The trio have been performing regularly at popular New York venues including Bethel Woods (the home of Woodstock), Shrine, Pianos, Flatiron Hotel, and Caffe Vivaldi.
Belle will tour Venezuela next March on a tour with famed Venezuelan entertainer, Dave Capella.
