Biography
Both Rebekka and Colby developed an interest for music at an early age. In 2003 they began taking guitar lessons to feed their desire to create music. Eventually Rebekka stepped outside of just playing an instrument and decided to sing. Her first performance was at her grade 7 talent show, and the performances continued to grow after that. In 2006 Rebekka formed a band which consisted of other young local musicians including her brother Colby, on lead guitar. This marked the creation of the Rebekka Paige Band. They then performed at various fairs, special events and parties in their local area. In 2008 Rebekka recorded a full album of original material, with a few cover songs for good measure. The two siblings continued to perform and expand their fan base allowing them to have the opportunity to open for many acts, including: Terri Clark, Emerson Drive, Jaydee Bixby, Deric Ruttan and Crystal Shawanda. As they continued to perform shows and gain more experience, they insisted on making their mark in the music industry.
A piercing falsetto reminiscing on a heart that has long been broken, comparable only to the legendary Patsy Cline echoes from a poorly lit room as Rebekka Paige reflects on her music career coming to a sudden end. A 7 year dream is slowly becoming a relic of the past. The summer's bright leaves slowly die in bursts of auburn and brown. The Rebekka Paige Band played their last show and left a shroud of uncertainty around the future of her musical career.
With a renewed hope in a music career, a common goal and a new musical direction in mind, "Catalina" was born.
"As cliché as it may sound, music is my passion." stated Rebekka. "When I'm on the stage I get this rush of excitement, nervousness, and joy all at once. I think music is very powerful and has long been an outlet of mine. Music means a lot to me."
The members of the band unanimously decided to move on with other endeavours. All member's except Colby Latocha, Rebekka's brother and long time lead guitarist. His passion for music unequivocally matched hers. With playing comprised of blistering speed and unbridled rawness, it offset her vocals with unapologetic nerve.
"I never really had any other goals in life other than music. Most school days I had better things to do. Best advice I ever received was from a teacher telling me school wasn't for everyone. It was clear where I needed to be." recalled Colby.
With a renewed hope in a music career, a common goal and a new musical direction in mind, "Catalina" was born.
With sights set high and nearly two decades of musical experience between this brother-sister duo, Catalina is ready to haunt country music with memories of its past.
