Artist Information

Biography

Tulio Araujo is a brazilian musician, producer and composer. Always studying and researching the origins and roots of brazilian music, began to be interested in percussion in 1999. At the same time, started at the stages with bands playing the “forró” (typical brazilian music style), giving a special "sauce" to the songs with his tambourine and powerful swing.

Feeling stuck in just one rhythm, Túlio began to venture into other paths, playing samba, funk, bolero, rumba and salsa, always keeping his way of play, inspired by masters such as Jackson do Pandeiro and Jacinto Silva.

In 2005 decided to plunge into the percussive world, starting a series of exchanges with great musicians such as Santiago Réyther, the famous cuban master. Studied also percussion at Palacio das Artes in Belo Horizonte - MG.

In early 2009, attended many workshops with the great percussionist Marcos Suzano, considered by many the greatest tambourine player in the world. With him, Tulio has developed and perfected his technique, which gave him enough repertoire to offer private lessons.

Since 2010, Tulio is studying percussion and harmonization at the renowned Bituca Music Hi-School, in Barbacena - MG, with great masters such as Ian Guest and Sergio Silva.

Since he started taking an interest in better techniques and methodologies of fluency in the tambourine, Tulio Araujo has been developing the idea of showing all this diversity and dynamism of its main instrument: the Tambourine. Following this idea, decided to create the “Dobradura Project”, where he demonstrates musically and visually that it is actually a "pocket drum" and has plenty of swing to create a new way of experimentalism and heavy grooves.

Accompanied by a classically jazz instrumental gig - guitar, bass, saxophone and trombone - Tulio Araujo has performed all over the country, pleasing to all who likes some new and nice sounds.
