Artist Information

Biography

With haunting harmonies and lyrics, diverse instrumentals, and a wide range of influences including old-time bluegrass, gospel, Dixieland and contemporary folk, Bog River's innovative acoustic music can best be described as "wooden". From Winnipeg, Manitoba, the heart of the Canadian prairies, this trio of songwriters creates original music that is as gritty and warm-hearted as the landscape in which they grew up. Having shared the stage at festivals and shows with acts such as Nathan, Scott Nolan, Dan Frechette, Ridley Bent, The Crooked Brothers and many others, Bog River is becoming a well-established favourite band for many roots fans.

Their debut full-length album, "Hands in the Ground", is a beautiful blend of delicate, poetic songs and fast-paced, get-up-and-dance tunes - all with common passion, musicianship, and dirt-caked themes reflecting family, death, beauty, and darkness. Often huddled around a single condenser mic, Bog River’s live shows are heartfelt and energetic, leaving the audience feeling that there are far more than three people on stage.

Whether they draw a stomp from your foot or a tear from your eye, Bog River combines the old with the new to make you feel as good about music as they do.
