Artist Information

Biography

Blue Moon Prairie is the convergence of 3 vocal stylists/songwriters: Robyn Adams, Laura Melanie Collins, and Caroline Jenney - all currently living in northern New Mexico. While their backgrounds are different (rock, country, folk, bluegrass), they all meet on the same musical playing field - and the result is wondrous! Truly, the whole is more than the sum of the parts.

Robyn Adams: Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Bass
Robyn Adams grew up in Taos, New Mexico in the 1960s and 70s. She was raised by a very strong, persuasive and infamous mother; it was her mother’s influence that helped the Taos Indians regain their sacred lands, which gave Robyn an affinity for justice. A constant parade of interesting characters: artists, filmmakers, medicine men, writers, singers and colorful locals, gave Robyn a sense of the world beyond her front door. These qualities are often the thrust behind her writing.

She learned to play the bagpipes and played and competed with the San Diego Cameron Highlanders pipe band for five years. Then 9/11 happened and she wrote We Will Remember You, a stirring tribute to the fallen first responders of 9/11. The song is well visited on Youtube and she played Old Lang Syne and Amazing Grace on the pipes in the tune to honor all first responders and what they do everyday.

Most recently, Robyn played with her partner John in San Diego, CA in a duo called Highway Seventy Nine. They frequently played for galleries, wine shops, coffee houses, the local Bluegrass Association and House concerts. Robyn moved away from Taos for many years only to find herself right back in Taos.

Laura Melanie Collins: Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards
Laura fronted various rock cover bands playing all over New York City before heading west to Denver working in the Denver music scene. Then, mysteriously, she left music for 10 years. Coming out of this hiatus has resulted in an extremely creative songwriting period. Her songs cover a myriad of topics: love, divorce, suicide, political protest, and through all of these, faith. Laura's continual exploration of a force that is bigger than herself has always been her prime mover.

Laura resides in a rural artist community in northern New Mexico. She is vegan and a passionate dog lover.

Caroline Jenney: Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo - anything with a string.
The truth about Caroline Jenney:
Caroline has lived quietly and peacefully under two rocks all of her adult life.
One rock is inscribed 'art' and the other is inscribed 'music'. At the moment, these rocks reside in the magic southwest near Santa Fe.

Live well, make a plan, be your own rock.
