Biography
The Forty Nineteens' sound was forged in LA's late '80's underground scene. Temecula CA based, their music can be described as Alt 80's, Garage Rock, Americana, Pop/Punk, with a Motor City powerplant and good-time raucousness.
Detroit native John and Pittsburgh raised Nick played with influential Los Angeles bands The Leonards and Mary's Danish. Both bands achieved commercial and CMJ recognition with 'Don't Crash the Car Tonight' and 'She Said Goodbye,' they toured and played the nations top clubs including Raji's in LA and CBGB's in NYC, and shared the stage with the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mike Ness, and Weezer. They also have had music placed on ABC's Ugly Betty, and are listed in Trouser Press.
Their debut effort "No Expiration Date" was produced by David Newton of the Mighty Lemon Drops, mastered by Paul Dugre, and will be released on Heyday Records. It is a modern take on The Leonards powerful sound with Dave's warm harmony arrangements and (Stevie Wonder sideman) Kevin McCourt's Hammond B3 punch. New Hampshire bred guitarist Chris adds his Ballou Brothers blues alt-country sensibilites, while Californian Chuck tops it off with his SoCal punk guitar sound. Include influences by Tom Petty, The Ramones, Elvis Costello, The Stooges, Steve Wynn, The Clash, Dramarama, Plimsouls, Psychedelic Furs, Guided By Voices, Flesh for Lulu, Johnny Rivers, Beat Farmers, and you have "No Expiration Date."
The Forty Nineteens continue the Motor City high-energy tradition that has earned them a loyal following from LA to Temecula's wine country. They've recently opened for garage rock icons The Fleshtones (in Joshua Tree at Pappy and Harriet's,) Gene Loves Jezebel, Gilby Clark, and Gin Blossoms. It all combines for one hell of a good time.
