"THE WAYFARER EXPERIMENT INTRODUCES NEW MUSIC"

In October 2009, Lancaster musician Bjorn Jacobsen decided to try a musical experiment. “After playing with many bands and projects, I decided that ’experiment’ was a better term for anything I did in the future,” he explained. “An experiment can go wrong, or, it could do the opposite, and we can make it into a science.” And it seems the Wayfarer Experiment has become a science. The original and unique sounds of Jacobsen and band mate T.J. Dicecco can be heard all over Lancaster County, including at The Symposium, Manheim’s Farmer’s Hope Inn, and the Pub Dunegal in Mount Joy. “In the beginning, I started writing some songs that were put together out of influences of festivals, the Renaissance Faire, bluegrass, folk, and Halloween,” explained Jacobsen, who sings as well as plays the guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. “Overall, it created a new style I like to call ’dark folk.’”...” - Susan Beam- The Lancaster County Women's Newspaper

Bio

This band grew out of dirt. Started by Bjorn Jacobsen, this started with nothing more than a damaged banjo player with 5 songs after a near death experience. 3 years later, It has had more changes than ever expected. With new musicians constantly coming and going, and only picking the finest to play with, The Wayfarer Experiment has only one focus, to spread culture into pop music today. Next to Bjorn on their new album, "Sad Eyes and Blue Jeans" Matt King is found playing the cajon, Aka, "the box". With him comes an entirely new outlook on natural beats in music that typically doesn't involve percussion. For their Live performances they have had the pleasure of introducing Nate Arndt on the guitar, bass, and vocals, Alex Flattery on the Stand up bass and Alyssa Martin on the Violin. When together live, the group offers an experience impossible to achieve from any recording. In the last two years, the group has played all over the Northeast from the Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA to the parks in NYC, the subways in Philly, random festival campsites and any other place that welcomes the slightly damaged, questionably mad drifters who speak through note being created underneath their fingertips.
