Biography

The band FARLEY consists of four all-star musicians from the North East PA music scene. Together they completed and released “A Good Problem to Have” in July, 2011 and quickly gained notoriety. FARLEY’s debut CD has captured the attention of audiences from coast to coast and over seas as well.
Taking hit single “Hindsight” as a prime example, this single sets up the listener for the rest of the EP. It is very radio friendly, upbeat, danceable, and it’s the perfect song to introduce this group to new listeners. “Hindsight” has catchy verses and is loaded with hooks, along with incredible lyrical parlays and instrumentation that is divine. The story line with this single (and yes, there is a story behind every song) revolves around growing up and looking back at the glory years of life passed; perfectly summed up in the title “Hindsight”.
Song after song from the album contains incredible storylines and creative arrangements. FARLEY’s music soothes the soul with its strong sense of familiarity, yet invites the listener to delve deeper into the lyrical content and musical arrangements with each and every listen.

Accolades and accomplishments:
In its 2nd week of sales “A Good Problem to Have” reached #1 on the regional NEPA record sales charts (Gallery of Sound) in front of Adele, 311, and Cold.
The band just returned from their first overseas tour in Ireland where they made hundreds of new fans and unloaded 1,000 copies of “A Good Problem to Have”
FARLEY was selected as 1 of 32 Emerging Artists in Sony’s Sound and Image Showcase (national showcase featuring bands from all over the country)
FARLEY was recently selected as a semi-finalist in the national Unsigned Only Songwriting Competition.

Written and produced by Bret Alexander and Tim Farley (with lyrics by Tim Farley) this six song EP is musically refreshing with ear catching hooks and great melodies. There’s a song on this disc for every type of music fan and for me, that’s definitely a good problem to have.
  
  Tim Farley’s vocal dexterity, versatility, and range are astounding. “Hindsight” starts the disc perfectly with its upbeat pop groove and great chorus. “Today” and “Unforgettable” are remarkable hook driven songs and I don’t think I could get them out of my head, even if I tried. Tim’s vocals are sexy and gritty in “Fuel the Fire”, which showcases the band’s ability to genuinely rock out and added to that, Dustin Drevitch’s guitar solo’s phrasing and tone which creates another dimension to an already well-rounded rock song. “Waiting On Me”, is catchy country and pop at it’s finest. Rounding out the EP is “Tiger Lily” a gorgeous ballad with beautiful string arrangements and vocals. All in all, this EP just wasn’t long enough (which again is a good problem to have).
  
  This disc is fantastic and you don’t have to just take my word for it, “A Good Problem to Have” is available for download on iTunes and without a doubt worth the affordable price tag. Don’t be surprised if these songs find their way to a radio station near you. “A Good Problem to Have” keeps true to its title…well done Farley.

  Many music lovers and supporters of local music are more than familiar with the high energy, tantali...Many music lovers and supporters of local music are more than familiar with the high energy, tantalizing, hard rock band Pan.a.ce.a. Lately there has been some buzz about charismatic frontman Tim Farley's upcoming solo endeavor, known as FARLEY. So what's going on in the Pan.a.ce.a camp seems to be the question.
  
  Building a fan base for several years in Schuylkill County, Pan.a.ce.a continues to do so. The Roundhouse has always been a welcoming venue, along with places like Goodfellas, Club Paparazzi, 2nd Street Pub, Striker's and many others. The band has played several all-age shows at fye. Many fans are people with kids or kids themselves who are unable to go to clubs. The support of local record stores like fye gives everyone a great opportunity to come out. Pan.a.ce.a has also made many great personal connections with area bands.
  
  "That's typically the way bands get to new places nowadays. They swap gigs with a band from the area they want to play by offering a gig in their homebase to that band in exchange. An example of this would be with Nothing Sakred. We've gotten very close with them over the years, which allowed us to play Schuylkill County more and allowed them to branch into Wilkes-Barre and Milton. The bands in Pa. are a very tight-knit group. We always try to help each other out," Farley said.
  
  So is there discord in the Pan.a.ce.a camp?
  
  "It seems this misconception is quite common when an artist does something aside from the band they are in. When Maynard Keenan joined A Perfect Circle people were saying, 'This is the end of Tool' and then they came out with one of their best records ever. Same thing with Corey Taylor, Jack White and on and on â?¦," Farley said. "People need to realize that there is more to an artist than the band they are currently in and they aren't being disloyal for branching out to different things. There is a lot more to me than just Pan.a.ce.a. I want to make music and FARLEY is just another way for me to do that."
  
  Pan.a.ce.a is still on the same page. Members have regular meetings with their manager, Terry Selders of Susquehanna Entertainment, to discuss their short and longterm goals. They have a business plan and strategy in place in order to reach them. Everyone is extremely supportive of this solo project.
  
  "A Good Problem to Have," Farley's upcoming debut release, is the result of his passion for music. He loves to play, sing, write and listen. Music has been a major part of his life for a long time.
  
  "For the album, I just hope it is well received and people enjoy it. Whatever comes after that is gravy. As for my career, I don't really know. I want to be successful, but I can't say that I haven't already been to some degree. I guess it's just that - a matter of degree. Let's put it this way, I don't want to cool down," Farley said.
  
  Farley has always found ways to express himself. He began acting at age 9 and landed the role of Oliver Twist in a production at the Rockwell Center, Milton, at age 10. He did professional theater in Philadelphia at age 15 and went to the PA Governor's School for Acting at age 17. He also did an off-Broadway play in Manhattan at age 20 while going to school at SAE Institute for sound audio engineering.
  
  Working on your craft as much as possible is the best way to perfect anything, Farley said.
  
  "My hope is it will mostly serve to make me a better songwriter in general. I like a lot of different styles of music and I think the more well rounded you are the better your writing becomes. FARLEY is giving me the opportunity to write songs that would not fit the Pan.a.ce.a style or genre, but there might be similar elements that I could bring into the next Pan.a.ce.a record that add a little color or make it a little different. FARLEY gives me the opportunity to explore new creative waters," he said.
  
  The songs on the solo album were written by Farley and Bret Alexander. They also play some instruments on the album: guitars, some keyboards, percussion and more.
  
  "There really isn't much difference in terms of performing, but more so in the actual songwriting and recording process. With Pan.a.ce.a it's a full collaboration of ideas with each band member active in the songwriting from start to finish, which has its pros and cons," Farley said. "As a solo artist, I write all of the songs on my own or in collaboration with my producer, Bret Alexander, then bring in studio musicians to play the parts on the record. Of course, they may have their own flavor here or there, but everything is fully written and structured before they come in," he said.
  
  The other musicians on the record are Pat Flynn from the Underground Saints and formerly Bent Blue and Dustin Drevitch from Lemongelli on guitars; Zhach Kelsch from Dive, Ajar and formerly Fighting Zero on drums; Matt Jaffin from Pan.a.ce.a on bass and Adam Tarin from Royal Benson on keyboards. The six-song EP was recorded at Saturation Acres and is due in late spring, targeting May. The artwork for the project is being created by the love of Tim's life, his wife, Shawnsie, a talented artist/photographer.

  So where would today's music scene be without the likes of all the available media?
  
  "It seems that media and music are interchangeable nouns. Music IS media IS music. There is still a need for publications to support the scene (whether it's blogs, websites and print, whatever), for social media to support artists in general, for cities and towns to cultivate their own local scene and for people to give a damn," Farley said. "Bands need a place to grow and be heard, which cannot happen in a city devoid of clubs to play in, and clubs will close if the people don't come through the door and spend money."
  
  He said he sees that kind of thing happening in Wilkes-Barre more and more.
  
  "There have never been this many good bands and so few places to play. It's a real shame. But what keeps it alive is the bands that make the music, the publications/media that get it out there and the people that support it. As long as those three elements are working synergistically, the scene can remain alive, even if only on life support," he said.
