Bio

Joaquin Khan (professionally known as “Joa Khan”) was born and raised in the South Bay area of San Diego, California. Although raised outside of the entertainment world, Joa’s passion for performing has been a guiding force since childhood. His family encouraged the artistic side of him, and he enjoyed the support he received when entertaining them. His first performance outside of family was at his 6th grade graduation, where he was a member of his school choir. Later, as a member of his junior high marching & orchestra bands, he learned to play the drums-percussion instruments. Joa especially enjoyed playing the snare and bass drums.

During his high school years, Joa would travel to Los Angeles on the weekends for hands-on training on top of Hollywood’s go-go boxes at clubs on the famous Sunset Strip, such as The Dome (Florentine Gardens), The Palace, and The Arena. By age 16, Joaquin was go-
go dancing in Hollywood for major DJs. By age 17, he was a backup dancer in music videos, such as Richard “Humpty” Vission‘s “Drop That Beat” and Projecto Uno’s “Muevelo.” In 1998, Joa performed his first singing solo at the Christmas On The Prado production in Balboa Park (San Diego, CA.). In college, he expanded his education by taking classes, such as Tele-Media 115 (acting for television & film), Modern Dance, and Chambers Choir. While there, Joa learned from masters of their trade, such as Mary Jo Horvath (Modern Dance) and Terry Russell (Chambers Choir), all of which helped improve and refine his skills.

On September 24, 1999, Joa’s acting skills were displayed when he performed in “Love Triangles,” Jerry Springer’s season opener. In 2000, Joa landed on MTV’s So. Cal's Summer Beach House dance show (Sisco’s Shakedown in Mission Beach, CA.), and was cast in over 15 episodes. His true passion was singing, but Joa continued to be pushed in the direction of dancing and stage performance. He joined a male revue troop that traveled the United States and, in February 2005, Joa performed with the Men of Playgirl on the largest stage in the world located in Reno, Nevada.

In December 2005, after purchasing ownership of the “The Girls Night Out Show,” Joa moved his production to Reno to establish the first agency and male revue show based there indefinitely. His dream of putting the show on the largest stage in the world was realized on November 15, 2008 where he promoted, produced, directed, coordinated, choreographed, designed the costumes as well as
the stage & lighting, in addition to singing, performing and acting as Master of Ceremonies for the show. Although this was a major production that consumed almost all of his time, Joa never lost sight of his desire to promote his singing career, and he realized that a move closer to the people he knew would help his next endeavor would be necessary.

In October 2011, following six successful years in Reno and his establishment of an entertainment agency and a franchised male revue show, Joa moved the main production back to San Diego. The male revue shows and agencies continue their success in both Reno and San Diego. Joa plans to create the first male performer - entertainer certification in the United States, and possibly the unionization of that industry. His goal of becoming the biggest male revue show in the industry known worldwide is well on its way of being achieved.

Goal oriented and focused, Joa made the decision to pursue a singing career, his true passion, all the while continuing his producing and dancing career. Joa works with professionals such as Bobby Blackmon (songwriter and vocal coach), Ben Flint (composer and musician), Quino of “Big Mountain“ (artist and songwriter), and Lenny “Fuzzy” Rankins (artist, musician and producer). In 2008, Joa went in the studio and recorded his first singles, “Tijuana Amor,” “You See Through Me,” and “Come With Me.” Now, with the correct team behind him, Joa is well on his way to success.
