"Single Review - Dark City / Overkill - Room Thirteen"

‘Dark City’, taken from Attica Rage’s 2008 album ‘Ruin Nation’, is a fast-paced, off-beat, chaotic track that gets the adrenalin flowing! Listen out for the incredible guitar riff in the middle of the song!

'Overkill', recorded originally by Motorhead, continues and intensifies the excitement experienced throughout 'Dark City'. This is a song of two halves; vocals lead the way initially, surrendering to swirling guitar melodies and insanely fast drum solos in the second half. You won’t be able to resist rocking out to this one!

Attica Rage are not changing the face of the metal genre as we know it; this is not revolutionary stuff, but that doesn’t detract in any way from their huge appeal.

The band are currently headlining their own tour, aptly called the Ruin Nation Road Rage tour 2009. They will be making appearances at festivals throughout the summer, finally calling in on the Hard Rock Hell festival in North Wales in December 2009.

Technically flabbergasting, powerful, raw vocals and great lyrics to boot, the guys have a great future ahead of them! - Sian Jennifer Smith

"Album Review - Ruin Nation - Black Velvet Magazine"

...This is a superb quality package. It is a veritable delight to all lovers of good honest British metal.

This band is set to carve its way into rock history and the album is stuff of legends.

'In My Dreams' is a well crafted epic, solid and emotional with superb vocal work. The anthemic 'Attica Rising' is definitely one to work up a festival crowd. 'Safe Inside' and 'First Life' have heavy bass and thunderous drums that will shake your vital organs, whereas the dark brooding 'Ghosts' is different again. Indeed, each track has its own individuality.

With Ruin Nation as their debut release Attica Rage have made themselves their own hard act to follow.

5/5 - Black Velvet

Bio

ATTICA RAGE was formed by Ayrshire brothers, singer/guitarist Jonny Parr and drummer Richie Rage in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003. Coatbridge guitarist Stephen Bell joined in 2007 and the line-up is completed by bassist Colin Wilson from Bellshill, who joined in January 2012.

ROAD DOG, their second album, was released worldwide on 1st May 2012 via new label Off Yer Rocka Recordings. The digital release includes all 14 original album tracks plus two exclusive, bonus tracks – ‘Through the Inner Eye’ and a raucous rendition of Motörhead classic ‘Overkill’ - recorded live at the band’s home show at the Classic Grand, Glasgow during their 2011 UK tour. The album + bonus tracks are available on iTunes and all major download stores worldwide. A new music video for the song ‘Ashamed’, filmed and directed by Colin Wood Media, accompanies the release and can be viewed on the official Attica Rage Youtube channel.

Produced & mixed in Glasgow, Scotland by roddymacaudio and mastered in New York, USA by Mike Tucci at Masterdisk (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam), ROAD DOG is a diverse collection of blues-infused biker rock, thunderous metal riffs, classic rock grooves and powerful, melodic ballads. Featuring Jonny Parr on lead vocals and guitar; Richie Rage on drums; Stevie Bell on guitar and Big C on bass (recently replaced in the band line-up by Colin Wilson), the album also features guest appearances by alt. blues artist Dave Arcari (slide guitar on ‘Road Dog Forever’) and singer/songwriter Christie Connor-Vernal (cello on ‘Altea’).

ROAD DOG was originally released in the UK in April 2011 via Rocksector Records and has received critical acclaim from rock press, media and industry, along with a growing clan of rock and metal fans throughout the world. Hailed by MetalShip as ‘one of the best metal releases in the last 10 years’ and described by Dom Lawson at Metal Hammer as “the distilled greatest hits of rock and metal, bashed out with passion and honesty”, many of the album tracks have already become Attica classics. Opening track ’36 Insane’ appeared on a Metal Hammer magazine covermount CD; ‘Through the Inner Eye’ was Classic Rock magazine’s ‘Track of the Day’ and is also the main intro theme used by international heavyweight wrestler Johnny Moss. ROAD DOG was a Featured Album on TotalRock radio and receives radio airplay at home and overseas including long-term Attica supporter Tom Russell on Real XS - (“I’ve always liked these lads and with this new album they’ve excelled themselves”). The album was also a shortlisted nominee in the Scottish New Music Awards 2011 for ‘Best Metal Recording of the Year’ and ‘Best Album Artwork’. Launched in March 2011 with a live showcase on the main stage at Hammerfest III in Prestatyn, Wales, complete with firebreathers and pyros, further festival appearances included the Metal Hammer stage at High Voltage Festival in London, HRH Road Trip in Ibiza and SOS Fest in Manchester. Autumn 2011 saw Attica Rage promote the album with an 11-date UK headline tour and a short run of dates with Die So Fluid.

Summer 2012 sees Attica Rage embark on a run of headline dates in England – the first official tour of duty for new bassist Colin Wilson – plus a return visit to Ibiza for the HRH Road Trip before a special appearance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2012 in London on 11th June, performing on the pre-show boat party which will be cruising down the River Thames and arriving at the Indigo2 at the O2 Arena in time for the awards show. Other bands confirmed so far include headliners Anthrax, Biohazard and Ghost with Shadows Fall and Fozzy joining Attica Rage onboard HMS Hammer. Attica Rage are also currently writing a new album with a release planned for the end of the year.
