"11-Year-Old Angelina Baez Living Her Dream As Lead Singer for a Rock Band"

11-year-old Angelina Baez living her dream as lead singer for a rock band

Angelina Baez, 11, of Chino Hills, is the lead singer of the rock and roll and pock rock band The Robotix. (Courtesy photo) Angelina Baez is one excited 11-year-old.
The rock and roll and pop rock band she's in - The Robotix - is currently on tour though Aug. 18 at events and venues in Texas, possibly New York and Los Angeles.
Angelina, who's the band lead singer, is a Chino Hills resident and attends Loving Savior of the Hills in Chino Hills.
The band includes 8-year-old drummer Logan "Robot" Gladden, and 12-year-old Japanese guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa, blues guitarist Brendan James, 11, and rock solid lefty bassist Jared Devino, 13.
Logan's dad is also the manager of the band and created its name. The group performed at Trees in downtown Dallas in June. This was their first time performing together as a band. They

Angelina is no stranger however to the stage. She's performed in musicals and was a semifinalist in a musical competition.
She also performs regularly at the Shoppes in Chino Hills and performs annually at convalescent homes during Christmas.
She loves performing at charity events including one of her favorite causes the annual talent show for the "Let It Be Foundation."
In the spring The Robotix began an international search for a lead vocalist and came across Angelina's YouTube page.
The group's first single "PSYCH'ed" was released on Wednesday on iTunes. Angelina's world sort of changed overnight,
but at the end of the day she's your average 11-year old and likes to unwind by laying back in the quiet, eating snacks and watching television.
QUESTION: What attracted you to the music business?
ANSWER: I have always loved to sing and have been singing since I was 3 years old. I performed in dance recitals since the age of 3 and since then I loved performing in front of crowds. At 7 years old I performed in a school play and was discovered by a voice coach. After working with my voice coach I knew I was destined to be a singer. From then on I knew I wanted to share my voice in front of audiences. I am attracted to all kinds of music and I am a big music fan. I love to write songs and sing. There is no doubt that being in the music business is in my blood.
Q: Do you worry about being in a band you'll become too famous and you'll forget to be a teenager? And what do you do you that reminds you you're a kid.
A: I most definitely think about the life of a normal teenager even though I am only 11 years old and the life that I may be experiencing in the music business. I think to myself how I would love to experience all the school memories of going

(Courtesy photo) to dances, proms and all the dramatic things that school life has to offer. Being part of a band might restrict my ability to experience all those things. It makes me sad to think that I may not be able to experience those things and have a normal life. What gets me through this is my friends and family and how much they support me and love me no matter what. I have friends that I know will always be there for me and me for them and they will always remind me and help me to have a normal childhood. They know who they are and I publicly say thank you and I love you!
Things I do that remind me that I am kid are playing outside with my neighborhood friends, riding my bike, swimming in the pool, watching Disney and NICK shows
Q: What is it like being the lead singer of a band with all males? A: It's surprisingly fun because they are very friendly, talented and have similar personalities to
mine. I enjoy having all males as my fellow band members.
Q: Who's your favorite band, and why?
A: The Black Eyed Peas. They are all so good together but they are also talented apart, too. This is a great example of a band with only one very strong female.
Q: As the lead singer, what do you do to get your throat ready for a performance?
A: There are many vocal exercises I do right before I perform. A few days before I sing, I stop eating dairy products and candy and I also drink a mix of hot honey and lemon. When I am on stage, I always have a bottle of room temperature water to use between songs.
Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge in this industry? A: I think the biggest challenge in this industry is being able to mix a normal life with a life of
fame.
Q: What do you think is the one thing people don't know about the music industry? A: How much work actually goes into making an album and preparin - Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Chino HIlls, CA

"Coldplay cover to raise funds for tsunami relief"

Coldplay cover to raise funds for tsunami relief
Group effort by more than 40 Music Matters artists available online now
9 August, 2011

Pierre Bouvier, Simple PlanSimple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier recorded his vocals for the track in Canada.

Almost five months on from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that hit northeast Japan so hard, the fundraising events and charity efforts keep coming, bringing relief to those still in need. Few have been as ambitious as the contribution from the Music Matters festival, based in Singapore.

While in the city for the event in late May, more than 40 artists from 18 countries recorded a version of Coldplay’s “Fix You” to raise money for disaster relief efforts via the Japanese Red Cross and Peace Boat.

Among those giving their time for the cause are 11-year-old Japanese guitarist Yuto Miyazawa, Canada’s Simple Plan and Sixx from Singapore.
Time factor

Coldplay donated the right to use the song, while promotion is being handled by Universal Music Group.

The final track, put together in just 36 hours, also features contributions shipped in from other artists in Canada, Ireland and Japan, many of whom also appear in the supporting video you can see below.

Jasper Donat of Branded, one of the main organizers of the recording and the Music Matters festival, explained how the Asian-accented charity track came about.

“As the world’s second-largest music market and number one in the Asia Pacific region, Japan has always been an important territory for us,” he said.

“This is our chance to contribute something to help our friends in Japan.”
Making a difference

Among the musicians involved, Simple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier cited the need to inspire others. “It’s great to see that by bringing together a small group of people we can actually make a difference,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how this song inspires others to get involved in the rebuilding of Japan."

To buy the Music Matters track, search for it on music sites around Asia, including Tencent in China, MOOV in Hong Kong and SingTel in Singapore. An iTunes release will follow shortly; pricing is according to territory.

Music Matters 2011

SINGAPORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Branded Ltd. announced that the world’s music and online entertainment industries will be descending on Singapore at the end of May 2011 for a triumvirate of music and entertainment events showcasing Asian online entertainment, music industry and live music scene.

“Being the region’s leading F&B and Entertainment Precinct, we see Clarke Quay as the perfect venue of choice for the live music festival, bringing together both Singapore and international independent artists in a celebration of music amidst our vibrant backdrop”

The Music Matters LIVE with HP music festival is the grand finale of the week that also includes Music Matters and Digital Matters industry forums. From 24th to 28th May 2011, Branded presents three signature events, bringing the digital entertainment, music and live music industries together under one roof for the first time in Asia.

Music Matters embraces the ability of music as a communication and fundraising tool to make a difference. In 2011, Music Matters will produce a track featuring Asian bands and artists, pushing listeners and viewers to donate directly to a number of Japanese charities. Japan is the world’s second largest music market, and through the Music Matters for Japan initiative Asian musicians will reach out to support those recovering from the tragedy and the ongoing relief efforts that continue to make a difference to people rebuilding their lives.

In previous years Music Matters has raised funds for Unicef’s Sichuan and Myanmar relief efforts. In 2010, Music Matters partnered with generous sponsor, Gibson Guitars, to fund a music education program for Cambodian River Kids. Music Matters has also profiled MTV Exit and Hard Rock’s music charity initiatives.

Music Matters LIVE with HP is a live international music festival featuring a dynamic line-up of over 40 international and Singaporean bands performing at numerous venues around Clarke Quay from 26th to 28th May 2011. All of the bands are in town for one reason; to be discovered by the industry and new fans.

“We are in a time of quantum transformation for the music and digital entertainment industries and there’s no escaping the fact that this region is at the forefront of developing breakthrough online entertainment experiences. Right now, Asia is the place to be, and Singapore is the perfect choice for us to take the Branded events to the next level,” said Jasper Donat, Co-founder of Branded Ltd and President of Music Matters.

Added Robin Seow, Vice President, Marketing, Asia Pacific and Japan, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard, “HP is proud to partner with Music Matters to lead the way in creating a unique event for bands and music enthusiasts to pursue and achieve their passion for music. Since 2009, we have been at the forefront of fusing music and technology with the introduction of Beats Audio™, an award-winning technology exclusive to HP that delivers studio-quality sound on a computer. At Music Matters, HP is expanding the Beats Audio™ advantage that is used by the world’s leading artistes like Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys and JJ Lin to the region’s most promising music talent and music lovers.”

“Being the region’s leading F&B and Entertainment Precinct, we see Clarke Quay as the perfect venue of choice for the live music festival, bringing together both Singapore and international independent artists in a celebration of music amidst our vibrant backdrop,” said Keith Low, Centre Manager of Clarke Quay.

The festival will present stellar bands from Europe, USA, Australia and Asia, including Japan’s hugely successful Rap star KREVA, with seven hit solo albums and countless industry accolades in the Hip Hop genre. KREVA will perform alongside some of Singapore’s best and most loved home-grown talent such as Typewriter, Jack and Rai, and 53A in Clarke Quay

Gracing the opening of Music Matters on 26th May is 11-year old Japanese guitar sensation Yuto Miyazawa. Not only does he own the Guinness World Record for ‘Youngest Professional Guitar Player’, he has also toured the US with heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.

He may have to wait a few years before he can join Ozzy’s band, but Yuto Miyazawa is amazing guitarist to watch. The 9 year-old child prodigy from Tokyo, Japan appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show in May of this year and performed Crazy Train backed by a drummer and bass player. Ozzy Osbourne, Miyazawa’s favorite artist, came out on stage after the performance to meet the young guitarist and said, “He’s the best thing I’ve seen in my life. Unbelievable, you are very, very good. Keep practicing, get better. I might get you in my band one day.”

Yuto has played several variety shows in Japan and during his U.S. visit in May, he performed with Les Paul, GE Smith, and Galactic. He is now recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s youngest professional guitar player.

Even at such a young age, he’s already able to deal with the inevitable requests for Freebird.

A 10-Year-Old Jams With Ozzy Osbourne

yuto_miyazawa_ozzy_osbourne.pngOzzy Osbourne, the man who’s been called the Prince of Darkness, is back on his Ozzfest tour. The summer festival ran from 1996–2008 and has been resurrected this year.

Maybe the fact that the former frontman of Black Sabbath is 61 years old has something to do with his willingness to take a 10-year-old on a six-city tour with him, because it doesn’t matter what age you are so long as you can rock. And, don’t you worry, because Yuto Miyazawa can do just that.

But this isn’t the first time the Japanese guitar prodigy has played alongside the Wizard of Ozz. As this Yahoo! Music article reports, Miyazawa initially met Osbourne in May 2009 after performing “Crazy Train” (Ozzy’s first song as a solo artist) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, when Ozzy showed up backstage. That led to Miyazawa playing with Osbourne at BlizzCon in Anaheim, Calif.

Miyazawa, who began playing guitar at 3, has been making the rounds, having appeared on Late Night With Conan O’Brien and played with legendary axe-man Les Paul. And, incredibly enough, the World’s Youngest Professional Guitarist (as noted in the Guinness Book of World Records) is mostly self-taught. - Tonic.com

Ozzy Osbourne has performed with a huge list of musical giants: He jammed with Metallica at last year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anniversary concert in New York, sang for Slash on the guitarist's recent solo disc, and even hooked up with the Wu-Tang Clan for a track on his greatest hits "Bible of Ozz." But the Prince of Darkness's latest - and most pint-sized - collaborator is one of his most intriguing yet: 10-year-old Japanese guitar prodigy Yuto Miyazawa.

Miyazawa recently joined Osbourne on the singer's six-date summer Ozzfest tour, performing the classic "Crazy Train" alongside Ozzy and his band. Blabbermouth tracked down footage from the August 21 show in Hartford, Connecticut, where Miyazawa did an awe-inspiring Randy Rhoads impression: He wailed on the same black-with-white polka-dotted flying-V guitar Rhoads was known to use - and Ozzy even hoisted the young guitarist into the air (around the three-minute mark) to replicate the cover of the song's 1987 live single. On his Twitter account, Miyazawa linked to a snapshot of himself shredding on Ozzy's shoulder, adding, "I like this photo!" - Yahoo! Music - Stop The Presses!

"7-Year-Old Rocker Plays for Thousands Logan "Robot" Gladden just graduated from first grade. Next on his list, opening up for Saturday's Rick Springfield concert."

Seven-year-old Logan Gladdens said he was born a drummer.

"Before I could ever talk, I just started banging on stuff," Gladden said. :I never had any real lessons. I just started playing the drums, and I just taught myself."

He may be missing some teeth, but this little rocker never misses a beat.

Music Teacher Cory Helms said, "It's kind of rare. Especially at that age. He's just got it naturally. He just has the personality and the talent. You can tell he was made for that."

Many are already comparing Gladden to another young musician -- Justin Beiber.

"He's a really cool guy," Gladden said, "and just for me to be compared to him is just really awesome."

But Gladden, who prefers to called by his stage name, "Robot," has already made a name for himself in the music industry -- calling Kiss drummer Eric Singer his 'buddy.'

He is also being sponsored by Pearl Drum Company. As long as Gladden keeps up his grades, they'll continue to sponsor him.

Friday, Gladden reached another milestone -- graduating from the first grade.

On Saturday, he and his band, all students from Southlake's For Those About to Rock School, will be the opening act for Rick Springfield at Liberty Fest in Farmers Branch.

"To be 7, 8, 9, and it's nothing to them," Helms said. "They're like, 'oh yeah, just another House of Blues gig or another Rick Springfield show. People my age are just dying to do stuff like that."

Gladden said he's just doing what he loves best.

"Making people smile is what I like to do. So, that's why I want to rock out. I want to be a rock star when I grow up. But, you never know, I might just already be a rock star right now."

"Next Kid Sensation Right Here In North Texas"

A very talented North Texas kid proves first grade has never rocked so hard.

Logan Gladden started pounding on boxes at just 18 months old. Now several years later, he's still drumming right along, and he has the fan base to prove it.

With his side swept bangs and blonde hair, Logan is often compared to Justin Bieber; only he rocks out instead of playing pop.

"A lot of people compare me to him and it's really cool to be compared to him because he is really awesome," said Logan.

And so is Logan. This is one talented kid. At only 7, he and his group the Junior All-Star Band play in front of thousands. His most recent show was at Liberty Fest in Grapevine. They were the warm up band for Rick Springfield, but that day they got the surprise of a lifetime that day.

"They called us up and we got to play," said Logan.

He even snagged a personal shout out from Springfield himself.

Logan's rise to stardom started last year at his school talent show.

He was only in kindergarten. Logan just landed his first sponsorship with pearl drums.

He's also hosting a radio show in Oklahoma 3 days a week. - NBC News - Ch. 5 KXAS in Dallas/Fort Worth

Meet a Seven-Year-Old Rocker. All you need to know about this story is this: Logan “Robot” Gladden is a rock star. And he’s seven. He’s even been mobbed after a kindergarten talent show. Now go watch the video. - DMagazine - Frontburner

""Logan 'Robot' Gladden. You’ll want to remember that name.""

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (CBSDFW.COM) – Logan “Robot” Gladden. You’ll want to remember that name. He’s only seven and in the first grade, but you wouldn’t know it if you heard him play the drums.

It took about a year to figure out Logan Gladden had a knack for music – the year he was born. Logan couldn’t even pronounce his name yet, which is how he picked up the nickname “Robot.” He prefers it now because it sounds like a good name for a drummer.

Kiss fans may already know “Robot.” He’s featured, in full Kiss costume, on Kiss’ own website.

Logan says he thinks God made him a drummer, “just because I was banging around on things.”

“God just says if he doesn’t get a full drum set or anything he’ll just be banging on everything his (whole) life,” Logan added.

There have been more than a few comparisons to Justin Bieber, who was seen at the age of nine on a YouTube video banging out a drum solo.

Logan hasn’t met Bieber. But he has met many other famous musicians. His parents have taken him to 75 concerts.

“I always say to myself I always want to be a rock star when I grow up but I probably am a rock star,” Logan said.

His fans think so. He was mobbed after his kindergarten talent show.

But Logan doesn’t want to be known as just a drummer. He sings and is learning to play the keyboards too. Which is why no one should be surprised when Logan “Robot” Gladden rocks it to the top of the charts one day.

Logan’s father made sure to videotape his son’s performances along the way. There’s a compilation on Logan’s newly launched website, where you can also follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. - KTVT CBS Channel 11 Dallas/Fort Worth - CBS News

The Robotix’s first single PSYCH is available now on iTunes and the full 5 song EP will be released in mid-August. The EP features 3 original songs and 2 classic rock covers. ""Make no mistake, despite their young age, these . . . kids really know how to rock!""

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Many kids want to be rock stars when they grow up, but the Robotix decided not to wait. The oldest member of this five-child group is just 13 years old. Their combined age is just 55 years old. But make no mistake, despite their young age, these spunky kids really know how to rock!

The band was formed by North Texas native Logan Gladden, nicknamed Robot. “Whenever I was just about 1 year old, I started banging on pots and pans. And so then my dad figured out that I was a drummer and he bought me a little toy drum set,” Gladden explained. “And after that, it just kept growing and growing.”

The Robotix are playing at Trees in Deep Ellum on August 7, and their new single “Psych” was released Wednesday on iTunes. ""To see them . . . on stage when they blow people away.""

SOUTHLAKE — In the upstairs game room of 13-year-old Jared Devino’s home in Southlake, he and his four band mates find some space to squeeze in a rehearsal.

The room is just big enough to hold the five children with their instruments, not to mention the talent each of them bring to the room.

The house is usually reserved for practice when just three members are rehearsing. But on this Saturday afternoon, the room will suffice for the full lineup.

After all, when two band members are brought in from other parts of the world for just two weeks, you practice when you can.

The Robotix are setting out to show the world that they are not just another kid band. And with the venues they have played in and the appearances they have made, people are believing them.

The Robotix lineup actually began nearly three years ago as an all-star band out of the Southlake-based For Those About to Rock School. It included bass player Devino, drummer Logan "Robot" Gladden from North Richland Hills, now 8, and rhythm guitar player Brendan James from Grapevine, now 11.

Music began at an early age for this trio. In fact, Gladden said he first started banging the drums at the age of 1. Devino said he was 2 when he first started playing bass, and James said his musical interest began at 3.

As part of the For Those About to Rock Junior All-Star Band, they played about 100 shows. That included Liberty Fest in May 2011 in which it opened for bands such as Rick Springfield and Spin Doctors. Nearly 10,000 people were at the show, by far The Robotix’ largest crowd.

The biggest highlight of that event was being invited on stage during Springfield’s set, where Devino, Gladden, and James played their respective instruments while Springfield sang.

Seeing that this group already had the potential to make it big at such an early age, the band, with help from their parents, sought out a top vocalist once its previous one left. They also looked for a lead guitar player to round out the band.

That search led to Los Angeles where they found 11-year-old Angelina Baez, 11, to belt out the lyrics. And the search reached Japan, where they found Yuto Miyazawa, 12, who is equally vocal through his lead guitar playing.

In fact, Miyazawa took an already-solid group and has bolted it to the next level with his growing world-wide fame.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Miyazawa became the youngest professional guitar player in the world at the age of 8. Two years ago, he toured with Ozzy Osbourne, playing alongside him on songs such as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley” during six shows.

“I wasn’t nervous,” said Miyazawa, who is still learning English. “It was very fun.”

He has appeared twice on the TV talk show Ellen.

And his YouTube videos get more than one million hits as he plays covers of various hits such as “Freebird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix.

“We don’t feel left out when people talk about Yuto a lot,” Gladden said. “More people talk about him, but that’s really better for everyone.”

The band knows that should be expected.

“We wanted to get the best guitarist,” Gladden said. “And he’s the youngest pro guitarist in the world.”

While Miyazawa’s phenom status is one drawing point to the band, another focus inevitably has been the members’ youth.

“That’s usually the first thing people say,” Devino said. “They say, ‘How do you do that?’ Sometimes they tell us that they’re jealous because their kids aren’t at that level or because they didn’t start playing until they were older. They think this is awesome.”

But being young hasn’t stopped The Robotix from playing at some respectable venues.

On August 7, the band played a show at Trees in Dallas, the first time the full lineup played together. Also at the show was rising star Zoe Ann, also from Southlake.

“It was kind of nerve racking,” James said. “But once you’ve done it as many times as we have, in a sense you get used to it.”

Baez said she is still getting used to the attention.

“There were about 150 people there,” Baez said. “That helped me since there were people there to cheer for us.

“These guys have experienced people coming up to them and wanting a picture or wanting them to sign their arm,” Baez said. “But this was my first time.”

The band performed live on KVIL radio show “Not So Perfect Radio Show” on August 8.

And on August 13, the band performed live on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas. There, The Robotix played three songs. Two of them are off their upcoming debut album, which, according the band, "rocks."

In fact, they are quick to point out The Robotix is a rock band.

“We have some slow stuff in our songs,” Gladden said.

“But even our slow stuff turns into rock,” Devino said.

They have had some help from big-time musicians along the way. Aaron Sterling, who has been the drummer for John Mayer and other bands, became familiar with Gladden years ago and has followed his - Pegasus News
