"“Breathe On Me” Artist Review: February"

Mmmmmm... Sayed Sabrina has a rich, evocative voice which conveys a broad
range of emotions so effortlessly. This composition provides a tasteful
backdrop for her excellent vocal work. I encourage you to visit her site and
enjoy "Little One" also. - CM Garden

"“Breathe On Me” Review: May"

As a dedicated electronic music addict, I'm constantly subjecting myself to newer, harder, & more "cutting-edge" music. I will always have a love for the Blues, though... and listening to the first few bars of Sayed Sabrina's "Breathe On Me" is like coming home. The poetic lyrics seem to tell a story - one of the many things I have come to miss in other genres. This song manages to give the feeling of narration without resorting to the artistically compromising nature of a ballad.

From the first moment when the vocals come in, you know there's no nonsense to this track. Though there is plenty of ornamentation to be discovered with repeated listening, nothing about this piece feels superfluous. Plenty of traditional cadences are also counterbalanced by good modulations & accidentals. The vocals, stylistically as well as characteristically, reflect a singer well-versed both in early blues goddesses, and in her own sense of soul. There's an apropos melancholy to parts of the piece, but there's also no lack of verve and attitude where it feels right. I found lots to like while listening to this song, the song is well worth it.

The instrumentalists, for the most part, do well in walking that fine line between ornament and structure. There's a great amount of contrasting sass and sadness in the dance between the bass and piano, and some of the chords that the pianist hits you with are not only well-executed, but very beautiful as well. The drummer earned my appreciation when he demonstrated an ability to use his splash appropriately, and though he stayed in the pocket for a great deal of the song, I feel that the subtlety was appropriate.

What's best, is that the moment the song even flirts with a trip into stereotype, they have the good taste to fade out the volume & leave you wanting more. - Gods of Music.com

Discography

Sayed Sabrina is celebrating the release of her giant new Studio Album “Thou Art That.” featuring the talents of Bobby Watson (Rufus, Michael Jackson), Sarah Morrow (Dr. John, Ray Charles), Gary Herbig (Elvis, Tower of Power), Carlos De La Paz (Cid, Mandrels) and Bryan Head (Dick Dale, Roger Hodgson).

Sayed Sabrina is a native Angeleño who, during the 1980s, was part of the L.A. punk rock scene. Living on the streets of Hollywood, spending time in group homes and juvenile hall, and eventually becoming a teenage mother – Sayed Sabrina learned how the music industry AND the world worked.

She later made a name for herself and found acceptance in the blues community with her previous release “Big Boy Blues,” a huge international success and is currently in its 3rd printing – Eventually playing on the same bill as B.B. King, Los Lobos, Jimmy Cliff, Dr. John, Leon Russell, The Temptations, The Motels to name a few.

However, Sayed Sabrina doesn’t claim to be a blues singer – “More like a singer that knows what it’s like to have the blues. I like emotionally driven music.”

Sayed Sabrina has been hard at work completing her newest endeavor – “For ‘Thou Art That,’ I’ve incorporated the styles that have become a part of me and am blessed and extremely grateful for the brilliantly talented people on this latest project. Together we created something very special.”

It’s a Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Soul kinda thing…
