"San Antonio Current"

"If you’re into straight-to-the point, no-bullshit Americana that rocks hard and has a soul, get Long Way Down, the latest by SA’s Dan Gonzalez Band. The band is on fire even when they get sweet: the bluesy power ballad Out of Time is one of the year’s best local songs..." - San Antonio Current

"Jim Beal Jr. - San Antonio Express-News"

“Gonzalez and company dig in and hit the mark. Gonzalez is an excellent writer. His voice is well suited for rollicking roots music. Pay attention to songs such as The Games We Play and Out of Time." - Jim Beal Jr. - San Antonio Express-News

Bio

The Dan Gonzalez Band was formed in San Antonio in the early 2000s by Dan Gonzalez, grandson of Conjunto pioneer Ismael Gonzalez. Drawing influence from Texas singer-songwriters, as well as classic rock bands, Gonzalez’s songs combine contemporary pop sensibilities with the traditions of rock and blues music. The group’s current lineup includes Michael McLean (Bass), Al Hockley (Keyboards), Tommy Wilson (Lead Guitar), and Nate Crawford (Drums).

The band’s debut album, Long Way Down, exemplifies their live sound, and features guest appearances from many notable San Antonio musicians, including Nathan Rigney of Emory Quinn and singers Nicolette Good, Melissa Ludwig, and Sylvia Kirk.

Since the release of Long Way Down, the band has been busy building a loyal audience in and around San Antonio. They have played trusted venues such as Sam’s Burger Joint, John T. Floore Country Store, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and downtown’s Moses Roses.

The band was was selected as a finalist in the 2015 BudLight RiverFest Battle of The Bands.

DGB also likes to give back to the community by teaming up with San Antonio’s Humor for Heroes, which raises money and awareness for the special concerns facing our military veterans.
