Artist Information

Biography

"Stevi Marie & Jackson Road" is an amalgam of contemporary and classic country, folk, and pop influences. With strong musicianship the group focuses on making an electric performance each and every time. Collectively, we draw influences from artists such as Emmylou Harris, Buck Owens, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Tom Petty, and Rosanne Cash. Stevi herself plays three instruments (guitar, trumpet, bass) as well as singing, writing, and producing the latest cd, Second Sight, which was released in January 2008.
From her humble beginnings in a small logging community, Stevi has risen to become one of the Northwest’s most active performers. At age 21, she went to Nashville, pitching a song to a publisher at CURB Records, who represents artists such as Tim McGraw and also showcased at the internationally renowned "Bluebird Cafe". Since that experience, she has worked hard to pursue a full-time career in music.
Shortly after her trip to Nashville, she was offered a record deal in Portland, OR to make her debut album, “I Thought I Told You”. The first cut on the album won her a finalist spot in the Oregon Symphony Songwriting Contest. Currently, supporting her debut release, the album has received airplay from the United Kingdom to Florida to Texas to Oregon, and accompanying rave reviews.
In April 2008 Stevi Marie signed with Comstock Records to promote her new cd, "second sight", all across Europe and Australia.
In July 2008 Stevi made the top 50 most played country songs by the European Country Music Association. Portland's own, 98.7 KUPL fm has featured her music on their locals only spotlight. As of date, every song on the cd has been receiving airplay.

Now a little on the group and their highlights:
In the winter of 2006 Stevi and the band competed in Las Vegas at the World Folk Foundation Battle of the Bands receiving 3rd out of 200 bands nation-wide. Also in 2006 they were a featured band on the syndicated Radio Program "The Backporch Show", which attracts an average of 10 million listeners every show.
Stevi believes that music is made through connections with many spirits. She is very grateful to be performing with an amazing group of people, including: Greg Jackson, co-band leader, bass player, vocalist, and co-writer of the group. He has been performing in the Northwest and in Las Vegas over the past 12 years, has taught composition at Portland State University, was a Buddy Holly impersonator, played guitar for the world champion Elvis impersonator (really!), and in his spare time he repairs all of his friends cars and guitars. He currently builds steel guitars with his father Robert Jackson. Chris Miller, lead guitarist, currently performs with legendary songwriter Dave Alvin. Matt Burnett, pianist for the band, recently arranged piano music for international artist Jim Brickman, with album pre-sales of 500,000+ copies to date. He also performs with Jerry Nailor of "The Crickets". He works regularly with Los Angeles producer Steve Sundholm and in 2005 toured the United States with “Geoff Byrd and the Sentinals.” Matt also has released two instrumental cd's, featuring his classically influenced piano style. Visit www.cdbaby.com/mattburnett for more information.
Drummer Matt Kramer is a Portland veteran having played and toured in many a band over his 20 year career from the west to east coast USA and throughout Europe.

The music in Stevi’s Own Words:
“I’ve always loved listening to country singers like Emmylou Harris, The Judds, and Rosanne Cash. But my Dad raised me on the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. Along the way, Louis Armstrong caught my attention; somewhere in the middle, I suppose, is what I do."
All in all, the group does their best to elevate the art of live music, all while ensuring that a good time will be had by all.
