We're Singer-Songwriter-Musicians who are a husband/wife team. Incredibly, though this massive project, we get along even better because of our common vision. The amazing thing is we've been together as a team for 18 years doing our cover band, and are just now releasing our debut CD of originals. This is perfect timing we feel at age 50, because our lives have written these songs! Whee! We feel like 18 year olds just graduating from high school with our whole lives ahead of us--we're 50 going on 18!
What sets us apart from other bands is that it's about the music. We have an incredibly hard-working band with no ego problems. The fact that we've been married for 17 years and working for 18 years 24/7 and still like each other as best friends is pretty unusual. It is because of our philosophical path of wanting to constantly grow and improve as human beings that has allowed us our teamwork. And all of our learning has unfolded beautifully into the songs of our debut CD. "Songs for Humanity" says it all.
Wow, we've had lots of influences, that's why we have so many sub-genres in our music. For Delene early influences were: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, The Byrds, Crosby Stills Nash, Led Zeppelin. Now Delene's influences are: Eva Cassidy, (a singer's singer), Loreena McKennitt.
For Barry, early influences were hands down: Blood, Sweat & Tears, and also Doobie Brothers, Beatles, Gino Vanelli. Now influences would be Sting, Bobby Caldwell (big band stuff), Steely Dan.
Our story is that we have had an aching in our souls to do our own music and now that we've just released our debut CD one month ago, the incredible response we've gotten has proved that we have music that moves people in a big way. We're not out to change the world, just to give people some new ideas for looking into their own lives, and give em some movin' groovin' tunes at the same time!
