Biography

MY GREAT ESCAPE is a relentless storm of dynamic sound breathing fresh air into heavy, aggressive music. While pushing technical ability without sacraficing emotion, MY GREAT ESCAPE manages to combine meticulous musicianship with pensive lyrics ranging from social, personal and political issues. Drummer Matt Shoneman and bassist Doug Roskovics evoke a thunderous explosion of creative and intense sound while guitarist/vocalist Dave Garot and guitarist/vocalist Steven Altonen bounce "straight from the throat" vocals back and forth over weaving intricate guitar parts that challenge the old rhythm/lead roles. MY GREAT ESCAPE possesses a tight cohesive sound with brilliantly arranged songs and raw unadulterated emotion while producing a pummeling live show that exceeds what can be captured on record. With the belief that the sum of the band is greater than the individuals, MY GREAT ESCAPE adheres to a strong grassroots ethos and a DIY mentality. My Great Escape has opened for such acts as: Unearth, Terror, Dead To Fall, Burt Your Dead, Most Precioius Blood, The Hoods, Byzantine, Integrity, As I lay Dying, and more.
