Artist Information

Biography

Blending old school R&B grooves with a songwriting ethic that comes from years of playing, Treasa Levasseur’s smart and soulful brand of music has made her a hot name in the folk, roots, blues and jazz scenes. To follow up to her 2008 critically acclaimed and Juno-nominated album Low Fidelity, Levasseur gathered some of Canada’s best players to record Broad. The album continues to be listed on folk & blues charts alike. Treasa remains one of the most versatile of artists. She’s been compared to Laura Nyro, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King and Marcia Ball. Past festivals include Toronto Jazz, Calgary Blues, Mariposa Folk & Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues.

“...Performance is what I love above all else. It is the place where I feel least nervous anywhere on earth. When I’m onstage, I feel that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be. What live performance has over everything else is that it is spontaneous....I really enjoyed making Broad. That to me is the favourite part of it and what I will keep from that experience. Working with all of those bands, going in for three days and having to do three songs with people I’d never played with before, that was fantastic. It felt like a culmination of all the experiences I’d had up until then. It was a breakthrough, to go with the flow and really allow the input of others.” -Treasa

Setlist

the shortest show i played was in nanaimo bc, they flew me there for 2 songs...

the longest show i've ever played was 4 x 45 minute sets. there were many wicked solos. we play mostly original music, but we padded that show with covers of, among others, isley brothers, ann peebles, bill withers, etta james, aretha franklin, jamie lidell, roxanne potvin, bonnie raitt and pete townshend. it was fun and exhausting.

set times and lengths are fully negotiable
