A Joyful Noise Community Choir

Genre: Gospel
Secondary Genre: Contemporary Christian kansas city, Missouri USA Contact

We are a delightful blend of contemporary and traditional gospel. We realize that it's not about us but about spreading the glory of God in song and that glory shining through a pure heart has the power to lift the spirit and break up fallow ground especially when put to music.

Biography

Winners of the 2007 Newsome Award for best choir, 2002 Omer Coleman award for best song, winners of the 2005 Omer Coleman award for best gospel choir, you might ask how this choir came into being? Well, the choir is made up of family members from different denominations and various vocal abilities and callings. We have four ministers and an evangelist in our choir so they keep tuned into God's word.
We were formed by an inspired vision to create a common ground that would draw all our family back to God. We grew up singing God's praises together, but as we got older some went their own way and started singing secular music or joined other gospel groups, etc. This was the draw we needed to remind us of who's we are and who should get the glory from our music, and as the old saying goes "the family that prays together, stays together". We are blessed to have various age groups in the choir because we have mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, neices, nephews as well as spouses singing together. We were originally influenced by quartet singing and as our family grew we began to enjoy the choir sound from choirs such as, New Jersey Mass, Walter Hawkins and Love Alive Choir and Mississippi Mass, etc. Most recently our influence has been Fred Hammond and Radicals for Christ.
We have traveled throughout the midwest and have met beautiful men and women of God along the way.
We have been featured on various Gospel Television shows locally, we have performed for various local organzations and agencies such as The Red Cross and American Cancer Foundation.

Setlist

We will do a 90 minute concert. Some of the songs are "Loved By You", ' He Lifted Me", "It's Not About You", "Daily Walking", "One On One", "Liberty", "You Are The Joy", "Gone Through the Storm". Depending on the venue, if we are doing just a concert, we run straight through and it's about an hour and 20 minutes long. If we are doing a church service, we break it up into 2 sets. Our typical repertoire is traditional with a few contemporary songs interjected.
