In the last couple of years, not many Swiss bands have attracted as much international attention like Mañana. The band, consisting of members Manuel Bürkli, Jan Krattiger and Jennifer Jans, have released their debut album «Interruptions» all across Europe in 2008. It was recorded and mixed by the British producer Ken Thomas (Björk, Sigur Rós, Dave Gahan) in Hamburg, Germany. The song «Berliner Blau» was nominated for the «Hollywood Music Awards», it was «Single of the week» in the iTunes Music Store, and the band was featured on Filter Magazine’s Sampler for Coachella Festival, amongst bands such as Radiohead or Portishead. A release in South Korea and a special edition for Japan followed.

It is always a good sign when a band already attracts a lot of attention with their first EP, like Mañana did: The videogame-giant EA Sports chose their song «Miss Evening» – taken from the «Fast Days EP» – to be included on the Soundtrack for the game «FIFA Football 05» which catapulted the band into 7 million households worldwide. The band was also nominated for the US «Independent Music Awards» in 2007.

Thanks to years of experience on tour, Mañana have become a compelling live band. As their label’s busiest band, they played shows and toured with acts such as Mew (DK), I Am Kloot (UK), Cursive (US), Heather Nova (UK), Keane (UK) or Youssou N’Dour (SN). They performed at a number of renowned festivals and venues, such as Montreux Jazz Festival, the AVO Session in Basel and a sold-out Bowery Ballroom in New York.

Mañana don’t have to fear an international comparison: Markus Kavka, presenter at MTV Germany, stated that listening to their music is «like a journey on which you are never alone». The US Web-Magazine «Stranded in Stereo» wrote: «We are hooked by their epic yet polished tunes, giving us every indication that good music can come from anywhere».«Interruptions» was record of the week on laut.de, one of the most important German music portals. Neue Zürcher Zeitung, one of Switzerland’s most influential newspapers, raved about Manuel Bürkli’s «gorgeous voice» and about an atmosphere «between intimate fragility and pathos fit for a stadium».

Mañana will release a new EP in the upcoming fall. The next LP will follow in spring 2011.

  A true rock `n`roll fairytale took place at this years Midem in Cannes, the biggest European Music fair. The production company EA Sports held a listening session in search of songs for the soundtrack of the latest edition of their Fifa computer game. By a fluke, Mañana's management "Inside Agency" heard of the listening session and delivered their demo of the song "Miss Evening"
  last-minute. Two weeks later, the consent from Canada arrived: As the first band from Switzerland, Mañana will appear on the worlds biggest computer game alongside international acts such as Air, Franz Ferdinand or INXS.
