Biography

The place I come from when I make music is ultimately one of gratitude. Every day I give thanks for the opportunity I have to make music and to share that music with others. I realize that i am part of a wealthy minority, and that most people on this planet can only dream of the opportunities that are available to me. With this comes a certain responsibility, and so i need to sing about what is going on in the world, and how we can respond to this on a personal, community and global level. I seek to activate the heart, mind and spirit.

  Saritah, South Korean born West Australian raised Roots artist releasing her latest album "Ancient F...Saritah, South Korean born West Australian raised Roots artist releasing her latest album "Ancient Forward".
  
  This sexy sultry lady has come a long way with her music and it shows in her latest release.
  
  A sweet but powerful voice Saritah expresses herself through this medium and does it with passion. As the opening track spins in the CD player you are relaxed with the instrumental offered, then even further with the smooth vocals from Saritah. Moving through the album the pace steps a few notches and you find yourself getting immersed in the music and finding yourself swaying to the rhythm and conscious beat.
  
  This album not only offers you the mature sound of what Saritah has become but a miriad of various instruments and featured artists throughout. Saritah performs on many instruments herself from the acoustic guitar, to electric guitars, also playing the organ, rhodes, doon doon, drums and the melodica. One talented woman indeed, but it doesn't stop there...
  
  The lyrics on this album take you on a voyage, a voyage through the positive insight of life, looking to mother nature and what she has offered and has to offer, this album aptly titled "Ancient Forward" is a must have in your collection of fine music.
  
  In closing "Ancient Forward" is an uplifting, easy listening, yet powerful 11 track album. One I once again thoroughly enjoyed and recommend

  A well-travelled roots musician returns with
  her second album
  Saritah was born in South Korea raised in
  Perth, played all over the place,
  not just Australian staples like the Wood-
  ford Folk Festival, the West Coast Blues &
  Roots Festival and the Big Day Out, but
  also keynote events as far afield as New
  Zealand, Japan and Canada. Then she
  ended up in Brisbane to record this sec-
  ond album with production by The Beau-
  tiful Girls’ bassplayer Paulie B. All that
  travelling adds a new dimension to the
  idea of world music – which is where Sa-
  ritah gets most of her inspiration. These
  songs are a melting pot of approachable
  planetary grooves served up with invit-
  ing, pop-worthy melodicism. So, within
  the context of one song she can take you
  on a musical journey. Right Way Home,
  for example, begins in some exotic desert
  camp before a cooling reggae vibe blows
  in to carry the song off, taking some of
  the desert with it. Most High starts with
  a percolating dancehall feel, drops in
  a few African flavours, then finds room
  for some rap. Time Will Come goes for a
  more old-school reggae with dub inflec-
  tions, and is given a good kick along by
  international guest Ranking Roger. And
  by calling herself a conscious roots artist,
  Saritah makes it clear that she has views
  of positivity and spirituality to impart,
  most notably in tracks like Blessings and
  Serious Times. That mix of melody and
  message is what gives this album its dis-
  tinctive edge.
