Biography

What would you do? My challenge is how do I get the attention of someone that plays such an important role in the way my music will be viewed. Me being the person I am, I will feel at peace if I try and present it to you raw and from my heart. With that being said, thank you in advance for listening to my project entitled “the FREEDOM album”.

My name, Low, was given to me by older heads when I was a youngster. I was that kid that just stayed out of radar. I wasn’t trying to be cool, but just kept a Low profile, and stayed Low key. Even when people I ran with were on one thing, I always wanted to lay Low and just get schooled by the veterans in my hood. It just fit what I was about. Whether it was me being Low down or my persona, I grew into the name. And due to the way I carried myself and the knowledge I got from the older heads, kids started referring to me as Uncle Lowy due to the way I viewed life.

I live in metro-Atlanta, and been here for several years. I say that to follow with, I am a Cack Kid, South Cack (South Carolina) Kid to be exact. I am true to my art, my heart, and my section. I know it probably would have been more convenient to represent the “A” because it’s hot, but I wanted to try and put SC further on the map. I want my music to stand and fall on the fact that I put all I have in it. Hence the title of the LP, “the FREEDOM album” It is me letting all of the different elements that make up Low free. Whether it is rhyming, singing, humming, spoken word, whatever, I just wanted to free myself thru my music.

I tried to put the music that influenced me, and the reasons it influenced me, into this project. I wanted to fill this project with the heart and soul that the Entertainers that came before me, like James Brown and Dizzy Gillespie (both from SC) gave to their music. From Marvin Gaye’s “what’s going on?” to Stevie Wonder’s “living for the city”, I wanted to incorporate how they were able to put elements that some would view as skits into their music. From telling stories Like Slick Rick, to switching deliveries like KRS-One, I wanted to really put what made me become an MC in the first place into this project. I loved what Old School Hip-Hop stood for. I am a New School Head, but I definitely got an appreciation for those who started this.

My music is about self awareness. It’s about life. It’s about having fun. It’s about sexuality. It’s about southern living, and the strength that can come from it. It’s about being humble and thankful for living, regardless of how bad it may seem. It’s Low! I have so many different elements that make up me, as a person, and I put it all in “the FREEDOM album”.

I know that until you actually listen to my music and form your own opinion, everything I have expressed up to this point is hype. And that I understand. I can only hope that you will take the time to listen to “the FREEDOM album”, and let me, as well as others, know what you feel. Again, thank you for your time. I TRULY appreciate you doing this. With that being said, ENJOY!
